My daughter is only 3. We went out to redlobster and my mom spent 70 dollers on all of us to eat. Then we went to the mall and she bought my sister a bunch of clothes. My sister wanted a black trench coat and my mom told her no...and then my sister started throwing a fit(shes 17) crying and bawling and then she came over there and was like that stupid ***** never gets me anything...well i slapped my sister and was like dont talk to about her like that...she did it again..so i slapped her again. then she slapped me back and i walked out...well my mom gave her 40 dollers and we went down the mall our seperate ways. When we came back my sister was still in the same spot of the mall crying cause she didnt have enough money...we went to the car and my sister started digging at her wrist and crying..

I am a single parent of a very demanding 2 year old, I live on my own, on a council estate, I am desparate to go back to work (sponging off the social is something I can't bare doing). I'm trying to find a way to beat 'the system'. I have contact with his father, he comes around for 1 hour most weeks, and gives me the odd tenner, but this hardly helps. If he gave me legal support, it would only be taken out of my much needed benifits. My Mum & Dad have recently seperated (wich make matters worse) My Dad lives close by but never asks if he can help, apart from slipping me the odd £20. My Mum lives 80 miles away, and although she would help if she could, she can hardly nip around the corner to help if I need her (she cannot drive, and has just started up a new business with her new partner). I take the train to stay with my Mum & new husband (wich I like) quite often, But I know this is not the answer. When I'm there we're happy (I can SLEEP),but when I leave all I do is cry, pls help.

My friend Angie had her kids taken away. And for good reason. She was a crack head and sold dope and neglected her kids. Her aunt called the Children's Aid and the CAS took the kids away for 6 months. She cleaned up her act and got them back a few months ago but now she's back to her old tricks and neglecting the kids AGAIN!! I have NO FAITH in the child protection system. They gave her kids back when she had not gone for any counselling or anything. She just had to pass the drug tests and she even figured out a way to scam the drug testers! The "random" drug tests were always done on a Monday so she would just wait until after the test and do it and by the next time she tested she'd appear "clean". She did slow down on it for awhile but now I fear she is getting as bad as she was just before she lost the kids. I have no faith in the system. It's useless. It does not protect kids. Why are these PIGS allowed to freely breed and then not care for their kids? She also depends on welfare.

I have a just turned one year old and he listens very well to me when I tell him he can't touch something or have/play with an object. The problem I have is he will stop touching/trying to play with whatever, but he makes this awful growling noise and throws whatever he has close by on the floor or hits the floor with his hands to show he's upset. This is very irritating to me and I'm wondering if this behavior is something I should ignore or let him be in trouble again for one, getting into something he shouldn't and then throwing a little fit about it. I'm a stay at home mom and I have all the time in the world to devote to him. I've tried holding his arms and saying in afirm voice that what he did is not "not nice". This seems to make him cry a lot, and I end up trying to console him and I think that he looses site of what the whole problem was. Anyway, whatever I try, he just keeps on throwing theses little fits...any ideas on better options?

I love all the advice that I am getting and I am taking action immediatley.. I do feel bad for not doing something about this earlier but better now then never... I am so upset about it and I feel bad that I had my little girl exposed to this.

I thought that she would have been safe at a school boy!! was I wrong. She is doing Ok right now, but I am going to tape her saying it because you ladies are right the teachers are going to stick together and make it seem as if she is making it up. I know my daughter and she has never talked that way until now.. Someone is doing something too her and I am not going to tolerate it. SHe is not going to that school anymore because I now have fear of the school...

I wish that I could give you all 10 points but I can't... Thank you so much....

I have a neighbour with 5 kids. She is a loser who is on welfare and does not discipline her kids AT ALL! I'm not kidding. They are so horribly behaved that NOBODY in our town will babysit them. I think they need a really good spanking. In fact, I've been tempted to slap them myself but I'd get in trouble. They are completely awful kids. Do you think they need a really good spanking? My buddy disagrees. Mind you her kid's a spoiled brat too but not as bad. I think a good spanking is needed when all else fails. What do you think? (I now completely avoid this neighbour because I feel like slapping her kids whenever I go over there). Yes, they ARE that bad!! They have NO manners and act like f*cking barnyard animals. They don't even act like human beings. They act like little spoiled animals who have to have their own way. It's sickening and I realize it's mostly the mother's fault for being too damned lazy to discipline her kids. She just gives them whatever they want to shut them up!

I was reading Babytalk magazine and I was appalled to see that a woman actually said that it was disgusting. Can anyone tell me why it is gross to give a child the nutrients that he or she deserves? My daughter was breastfed and I plan to breastfeed my son (He is due in February). I do not intend to feed him in a dressing room or in a bathroom, I also do not plan on staying home for the first year of his life. Why are people so uptight?

My daughter is in pre-K and she went to school today. When I picked her up, she seemed upset. So I asked her what was wrong and she told me that the teacher hurt her. I said what do you mean? she said that the teacher hurt her vagina.. She was also crying about it. The problem is my daughter does not talk very well and she has mentioned this too me before at the beginning of September and I ignored it.

However, today she brings it up again and this time she is crying about it. So I call the school too speak to the principle about it and she tells me that I have to be more specific. So tomorrow I am taking my daughter to the doctors and also I am going up too the school so my daughter could point out which teacher she is talking about. Do you think that I am doing the right thing? Or what should I do? I did not want to cause problems but I am not going to let my daughter get abused in any way..

Thanks in advance for your help,,,,

Hi.
I am 12 years old going on 13 and I was wondering when a good age would be to start babysitting.

I am a very responsible person, I help my mom out with my niece and nephews when they come to visit. I am excellent with kids. They enjoy when I am with them. I absolutely love children and think they are one of God's wonders. I'd never hurt a child.

I need to start saving up for a college fund and also a car.

My question is do you think that 12-13 year olds should start babysitting and how much would you pay them?

All answers are appriciated! Thanks for your help!

mostly lovely answers, but I got slammed by a couple, one for "ruining my life" and another because since I can;t afford to put minutes on my phone card it means I am unfit to be a mother of three children.

I would happily classify myself as poor, but, My family has full bellies, a roof over their heads, and clothes that fit them. We are not getting welfare or food stamps or medical assistance. My children have love bursting out of their ears at every turn, but they don;t have the latest gadget or the newest doll that pisses her pants when you tug on her ear.

In my opinion, a child needs only what they NEED and occasionally what they want. Time and attention are more important than spending 600 dollars on toys and the latest clothes.

Am I alone in thinking this way or do other people feel this way to?

If you child is teething, what is an acceptable fever? I know that they have low-grade fevers as a common symptom of teething. What is considered low-grade? Seems like our day care sends our kid home a lot for running fevers and I think it's probably just him teething since we see other symptoms (finger in mouth, slightly runny nose, red cheeks...).

If you caught your teenager skipping class and this was a habitual problem that resulted in you as the parent having to go to court, would you allow your teen to be arrested to be taught a lesson? Or is this cruel punishment?

I'm involved with someone who is in denial about their children's faults (lying, rudeness to me and my children, lazy, and manipulative). He always has an excuse or just a laid back attitude of 'oh well...kids will be kids....', or 'I KNOW my kids would not do that'. However this person is quick to judge and point out my kids fault. I KNOW my kids aren't perfect....They are good kids, but they do have faults and i see them and try to correct them. How do i make him see that he is only creating kids that going to grow to be for example pregnant at an early age, or fall into the wrong crowd. I care about these kids VERY much and don't want to see them end up like that.
