During my pregnancy, the father of the baby wanted nothing to do with either of us. Now that the baby is here and I started seeing someone else who loves me and my son very much...the father suddenly wants back in and claims to love us both. What do I do? He is a violent person and I don't want him around. He threatens to take me to court if I don't give in. I don't trust him with any sort of custody over the baby.

my niece who just turned two yrs old died this past monday of a rare medical condition. ( cant think of the medical term for it) there from birth had to be placed on on a feeding tube. doctor says she would not see her second birthday. but past it just two weeks ago. she got to have cake with icing for the first time as she was taken off feeding tube one year ago. But at least she doesnt have to suffer and she is now in a better place where she can be watched as she watches over us. By me saying this i just hope none of you had to experience something like this. and sorr y if you had to deal with a loss of a child due to a medical condition. Please if you can get your child checked for any medical condition and get it treated the best way you know how.......

Why do people not put their children in car seats? I really don't get this. I drive the roads everyday and see people whose kids are bouncing around the back of the car or sitting in their passenger's lap or otherwise not safely strapped in--even when I can clearly see a car seat.
I'm an EMT and I see people who've been in accidents all the time whose kids haven't been strapped in. It only takes a few seconds to protect your child, and people are like "oh, it's only a little short drive nothing will happen" when most accidents happen closest to home.

Why are parents so stupid, closeminded and selfish that they can't strap their damn kids in?!?!

My son (10), stepson(12) and daughter (2) all share an average size room. We only have a 2 bedroom house so this will have to work for now. (Step son moving in was a surprise about 2 months ago). I put my daughters dresser and bed on one side and the boys have a wood bunk bed. They each have a chest of drawers. How can I give the boys each their own space? There is no more room for anything large.

he can reach the pedals and all. We live on an acreage, so there wouldnt be anyone around for miles.
He has already driven it a number of times, and he has his pilots license, obviously not his drivers license though.
He is a good driver too!

had an argument 2day with my 21 yr old son who still lives at home, he told me to f... off and use such words as b.......s,he then told me to suck his stump, im at my wits end with him, he can be a lovely lad 70% of the time but has no respect for me or my home, i have split from his father but that was 19 yrs ago. I think its unrespectful 4 a child 2 use filthy language 2 a parent,am i wrong?
i must however say that my son is always respectable to other people and is very well liked amongst the community, but he knows i hate him using such vile language and i think thats y he does it, i have thrown him out on a few occassions, but a mothers love is so strong, his father allows him 2 speak like that in front of him, but he respects his father a damn site more, i blieve that its is societies doing as i brought my children up to always respect people have

We have a beautiful grand-daughter and our first and only one. And she is 2. I am at my wits in with this situation: I agreed to take care of my grand-daughter o.k. I understand but not 24-7 ! Don't get me wrong ! I feed this child cloth her and support her also, Never does my son or his girl offer any monies, diapers, money for snacks or any thing. I have had MANY confrontations with him. And he starts to say how young they both are and that they don't have any money left etc. But yet when pay day comes along there no where to be found. They live out on there own without any assistants Which I am very proud of that. Every once in a while they hit us up for money. There both 21 years old. Does anyone have any suggestions ? I should also add that the babys other grand parents are not even offering to help. It seems that they don't even want to bother. No help whats so ever ! The baby is the happiest baby ever. But, I find myself very TIRED!

My Sister is 28 and still living at home. She also hates children And I have a 5 year old son. So we can not visit his grandparents unless she's not there. When my son was younger he asked my mom if he could sleep over. She told him when he is potty trained then he could within a week he was potty trained. He then asked his grandma again. she told him maby when you are older. He was very hurt Because he worked hard so that he could.
My son is now older and he's wondering why his friends get to hangout with there grandparents for the day and get to sleep over at there house when he can't.
Any suggestions?

Every time I go to the grocery store people are letting their kids run wild. They just seem to ignore their kids and go about their shopping. I think that the store employees should say something, but they never do. They are contantly running in front of my basket and blocking the isles. Should I get onto them or say something to the parents?

I feel that you need to be very strict from day 1. I have a 3 year old son and a baby that is due in Dec. My kids will know the rules & what will happen if they choose to disobey the rules. They will always know that they can come to us at anytime if they want to talk. And we will welcome it with open arms.
For example: We will not allow our kids to be by them selves to the movies, mall , dating ( as a couple or as a group) or just hanging out until they are 16 years old. Unless my husband, my self or another trusted adult is with them at all times. We will not allow them to have a cell phone unless they can pay for it them selves. The same goes for a car or anything else that is not needed.
As far as drinking, smoking or drugs are concerned. If they are cought. My husband will take them down to L.A. to the morge and watch someone being cut up who died from drugs, drinking or smoking.

My son is turning 10 and my stepson is turning 12 both in September. My son had an old Playstation 1 system that is broken and my stepson just moved in with us in May didnt get to bring most of his toys from his moms(her choice). I would like to get a Playstation 2 for them and I am not going to bujy them each one. I cant give it to one of them or the other one will be upset, so I thought about giving it to them as a joint gift and then buying each one a game for it. Has anyone else tried a joint birthday gift? Would it work or how do I make it work? Also would it be alright to do a joint birthday party? They will have the same guests basically.

There are many things in life that you need a license for.

Ironicly, the most important task any one of us will ever undertake, having and raising children, requires nothing other than conception.

If you look at the statistics on child abuse, child obesity & childhood poverty in this country, you wonder why there is not some sort of mandated course or instruction on the basics of raising children.

Should we require parents / couples / single moms / who are pregnant to undergo some sort of basic schooling on child rearing?

Lets hear from you!
