I believe that there is a universal being or universal knowlege. A God of some sort, looking over us seeing what we'll do with our lives. All the other stuff is humbug. Hell...David Blane (sp?) has the same effect on people that Jesus the Nazerian did 2000 years ago. The only difference is that David is pushing the human potential for belief in themselves and Jesus...well I guess he was doing the same thing only he added in the peoples souls in the afterlife.

Magic

oh and to add to the "the bible is god's doctrine"...

HAVE YOU LOST YOUR FREAKIN MIND???

A bunch of freakin bishops put a bunch of bible stories together 300 years after Jesus died. the first gosples weren't even written until almost 90CE/AD. Oh and by the way...have you read the gosple of Jesus? Of course you haven't because it isn't in there. Don't you think that IF jesus was the son of god and was soo important that would be the MAIN book in the bible?

Don't have any more kids if you're not smart enough to look around for yourself and come up with educated beliefs.

There is a living and powerful God who loves us all. A God who is compassionate and forgives us of our sins. A God who is constantly providing for all our needs and a God who sets the sun in the sky, to give light to the world.

Also, the Holy Bible is God's infallible word. It tells us of how God moved in the lives of people from the past and it also tells us on how we should live our lives according to His principles. The Holy Bible also states the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but will have eternal life." (John 3:16)

I believe in God and I am ever grateful to be His child! If people don't believe in God, then life is worhless, useless and without meaning.

Nope, for the same reason I don't believe in Santa Claus, Zeus, or Flying Spaghetti Monsterism.

BTW in reply to your "additional details" about believing in god but not the bible. Believing in a god, and believing in the god of a particular religion, are not the same thing. I know several people who believe in some form of god, but who also believe that organized religions have done more to corrupt mankind than to bring them closer to god. Other people simply believe in a generic god not attached to a particular religion, like deists. Still others may believe in a god other than the xtian god, for instance Jews & Muslims.

Religion is a very diverse field, and as shocking as it may be, not everyone feels that the bible is the guidebook of the "correct" religion. Most people have never read any holy texts other than those of the religion they grew up with, and as a result end up with a myopic, narrow, exclusionary view of religion.

Okay I do believe in God and his rules from the bible are a good guidline for life. But there are some people who believe in a god, but not the one spelled out in a christians bible. Jews, believe in God, they don't believe in Jesus - they don't believe that he has come yet. That is their choice and they live good lives, so we shouldn't decide to persecute someone for having a belief other than our own.

I believe in a higher power, agnostic, no. As we all know there has to be a Higher Power, there has been lots of facts that have proven it. Now as far as what most call God,,, where is he these days,,, I know if I were a God,,, and my people were acting the way we are today I would step in,,, and for all of those poor children born of defects and that way for life suggling just to seem normal like the majortity of us. Would not allow. But just to let us know ppl have been killed just because of what one believed in, so no offence

I don't just "believe", I "know".

My spouse, son, daughter, and myself had a very powerful (real) experience a few years ago that left no room for doubt about the reality and truth of God, Christ, and the Bible.

Course, we had no doubt prior to this, but it made our belief and faith even stronger than it was before.

God is real and He's alive, and He loves each and every one of us. If there's anyone reading this that hasn't been 'touched' by this truth yet, I hope and pray that it happens for you. It's an awesome life when the worries and fears of the world no longer make us worry and afraid in this world.

In every moment of my life in which I felt panic, desperate, or without hope, He has always come through for me. In these moments I give it to Him in prayer, knowing that I can trust Him to take care of my needs.

We hear people say, "Give it to God" or "Let go and let God", and for a long time I didn't know how to do that. But I found a way to explain it so others might understand...

When a child breaks a toy, they go to a parent to fix it. In order for the parent to fix it, the child must give it to the parent. If the child holds onto it and doesn't hand it to the parent, the parent can't fix it.

To apply this to God, think of one person you know that you truly trust. This person is someone who, if you asked a favor and they said they would do it, you simply KNEW they would do it without you having to ask again, or remind them in any way.

So let's say you need "x" number of dollars to pay a car payment by Tuesday, and without it the car will be taken from you. This friend says he'll/she'll give you the money, but won't have it until Monday.

With any other person, you might have to ask or remind them several times before the time comes, but with THIS person, the one you trust the most, you don't have to give it another thought; and the reason you don't have to give it another thought is because you KNOW that this person WILL come through for you. This person is so trustworthy that you can ask once, and not give it a second thought because you KNOW this person always keeps his/her word. ALWAYS.

This is God. This is His promise to all that believe and have total faith in Him. He keeps His promises if we do our part. Our part? Trusting Him 100%. Having faith in Him 100%. Asking Him to take control of our lives, to guide us through life so we can safely make it through the pot holes and detours that come along.

Since doing so, I have had nothing to worry about. Yes, I still have problems, especially financial ones, but I don't worry. I know from experience that each time I've needed help and I prayed and asked God to help me, He has. I turn it over to Him, and let Him take care of me.

Do I believe in God? Without a shred of doubt. Without a moment's hesitation. From personal experiences. From proof - when I didn't/don't trust Him, I had/have problems. When I chose/choose to trust Him, things always work out. ALWAYS.

This is available to each and every person that wants it. We only have to ask.

May God bless each and every one of you, whether you believe or not. And may His blessings enrich your life.

Wow, funny how such an innocent question can incite people! And how we feel such a strong need to judge others beliefs. I believe in God and have a strong faith. I know He watches over me and my family. I would not judge anyone who felt differently- judge not lest you be judged!
