he can reach the pedals and all. We live on an acreage, so there wouldnt be anyone around for miles.
He has already driven it a number of times, and he has his pilots license, obviously not his drivers license though.
He is a good driver too!

You already let your son drive your truck several times obviously so what appears to be the question is whether or not you should be worried right?

If i am right on that question then do i have the right to say that you are worried if there are consequences to this decision? if so yes there are .. granted you are letting your son drive in the acreage however does HE understand the full extent of the responsibility when behind the wheel of the truck? does he understand that he could EASILY drive someone over and pretty much kill them in the process?

Think of it this way .. you drive your truck and see a pile of hay .. about the height of the hood of your truck .. what do you do with a matured mind? you get out of the truck and push the hay to the side 'n possibly check to see if there's someone on the other side or MAYBE someone being silly and hiding inside .. (hey it happens)

Now .. i don't know your son and therefore i have no right to judge .. but a 10 year old's mind isn't hard to figure out ... you give your son the keys to your truck and your phone rings so you tell him " Alright son! just drive the truck over to that corner and ill meet u in a second" he sees that stack of hay .. what will the mind of a 10 year old most likely do? why what the commercials do of course! crank er up and go right OVER that hay! no regard to if there's joe schmoe on the other side resting on it or uncle sam's doggie!

You get the idea right? :)

ps: Nice choice of truck! i love that truck lol

You already let him drive so why are you asking this question.

But to give my opinion I wouldn't. Even if he could reach the peddles and knows to only drive within a certain area. If he got hurt or killed the feelings of being responsible would be overwhelming to you. An avalance is also pretty big, so control may be an issue. Even if your in the truck then look away for one second something could go wrong. Car accidents happen everyday even with experienced drivers.

If he drives the truck and gets in an accident, hurt, or killed you will go to prison for manslaughter and be held accountable for even just a fender bender. You might be a farmer baby, but this isn't the old world anymore. The law takes breaking it's rules very seriously. And with all the single engine planes that crash, why would you let a 10 year old KID fly one? To dust the crops? Hire a farm hand.

the old ways were the best ways. 10 yr olds would work a tractor on the family farm. but you must be prepared for the day he takes the keys without you knowing! after all you taught him!
I think your son is very intelligent and will go very far the older he gets. teach him safety. all my life I wanted my pilots license and to hear a 10 yr old has his? what am I waiting for? oh yea 5 grand. lol you got a great kid there. challenge him every chace you get!

uuuum as long as it is on your land and your land only. Do not let him drive on the road that would cost you a hefty fine. It doesn't matter if he is a good driver or not because it is still against the law. It would be different if he were 15 and had a special liscence or a permit but not at ten.

And it may impact your toddler's psychological well being state and progression better than you may imagine. i does no longer recommend every person watch it no longer to point a 10 365 days previous

I say it's okay as long as you are with him....and only in the pasture but not out on the highways...my 11year old just started driving in the pastures, dirt roads and ALWAYS with myself or grandparent! NEVER alone. I think it gives them a since of responsibility and also lets them know how much you trust in them. Good luck!

Let him learn. When I was younger, i was put in the position that my mom got stranded and us kids were the only ones she could call for help. My brothers and I had the car but were all too young to drive, we had to walk to where she was in order to get her. You never know, a time may come when you are dependent on the fact that he can drive (Regardless of age). teach him. you never know.

Just remember that you being an adult will be responsible for any harm or injuries caused by or to him. How would you feel if he crashed, seriously injuring himself or someone else? Think about it. Ten year olds want a lot of things. Responsible parents say NO.
