She should be drinking approx a pint of milk a day, but this can include cheese, yoghurts, custard etc.....

I wouldn't worry too much, as long as you think she is healthy & developing properly. Professionals tend to worry mothers too much. Have only learnt this since having my 2nd child !!

If by 1, you mean 1yrs old, she should be eating table food, or something like gerber graduates, and not milk alone. As for the bottle, if she's 1yr, there shouldn't be a "Bottle" anymore. You need to take that as soon as she can do it, I'm not trying to tell you what to do. It's just reccomended by that age to take away the bottle. ( 14 months was the longest I allowed mine to ramain on the bottle) Good luck with that one! My 2 yr old still drank formula up until about 16 months. She new the difference if I tried to slip her some whole milk.(LOL) She asks for milk all day long. I have a cup ready in the fridge 1st thing in the morning. She's the only child I have ( I've got 4 ), that even drinks milk. You can give her milk any time she wants it, as far as I'm concerned. Also, at 1yr, she should be drinking about 6oz. of milk at a meal, or in between. My daughter drinks about 6 to 8oz. about 8 or 9 times a day, or more. You may need to contact a nutritionist about this, if this is no help to you. I don't know your situation, but you could always contact the nearest W.I.C. office and speak to a nutritionist, free of charge. It couldn't hurt!

If she is 1 year old then start to give her a cup and get the bottle gone. The early you start to take the bottle away the easier it will be. Also it would depend on how much she eats. If she is a good eater and drinks other fluids then I wouldn't worry. Ask the pediatrician though as they know your daughters health better than we do. And although a lot of parents are unaware a child can drink to much milk and all of the calcium can keep them from absorbing iron that they need.

I was always told my children should have 1 pint of milk a day either cows milk/Follow on milk at that age basically my advice give your daughters as much milk as they want as long as they have calcium from other sources Cheeses, youghurts, rice puddings, egg custards e.tc. noone knows better than the mum this is true it took me 4 years to realise this though. is she drinking out of toddler cups yet? as this would be a good idea as bottles can rot the front teeth (This happend to my first son well not rot just stained) sorry just read your question again. Do you mean 1 year old? as the advice above is for 1 year old. If you meant 1 month/1week than the advice i gave you is so wrong i think you need to ask again.

1 week= as much milk as the baby wants as long as she is putting weight on.
1 month= 5ozs every 3/4 hours
(This is my advice as it worked for all my children if in doubt ask your doctor/health advisor.

your daughter only needs 2 cups of whole milk a day. My son is 1 and I was giving him way to much milk and he was really consitipated, so I asked my doctor. Now, he doesn't have any problems with constipation. Give her 2 cups or 16 oz a day and that is all she needs. The rest of the time juice and water are good.

My daughters 3 now and i breast fed up till she was 8 months old.

When she turned 1, if i remember right, she could have full cream cows milk and i think a couple of bottles a day are enough.

In the morning after her ready break/porridge i gave her a bottle and she still got a nite time bottle until she was about 2.

You need Pediatrician..for your daughter..not an OB-GYN Dr/nurse..

To understand your question..Did you daughter just turn a 1 day old, 1 month old...or 1 year old?

Perhaps this explains the nurse's reaction towards you..

i dont think that a child over a year should even have a bottle thats just like a binky ??? parents need to listen to the doctors that tell em to stop giving there kids bottles after 1 year because my daughter just had alot of dental work done in her mouth due to the bottle at night and she was just 1 when i took it .
