Keep in mind that there are things that can cut his feet and the surface could be hot. My kids go without shoes a lot but if they get hurt because of it I don't want to hear it. They made the choice not to wear shoes.
When my kids go to a friends house they usually have sandals on and usually take them off their too. Their friends do the same when they come to our house. So no it is not wrong just a little unsafe but it will make their feet tougher.

when i was a kid there was no such things as shoes in the summer, i can even remember going to the grocery store with my mother barefoot. i see nothing wrong with him going to his friends house barefoot, I'm sure that you have taught him to wipe his feet before entering any ones house. (barefoot or not). don't worry about it, unless the other parents of the friend are upset, then just make sure that your son respects their house and wears shoes.

I don't know if it's wrong, per se, but it would be wiser to have him put shoes/flipflops on anyway. I let my daughter go barefoot just in a park when she was small and she got a big spiky piece of wood stuck an inch or so up, so from then on I made her wear shoes. It's pretty much Russian Roulette, you can't watch where his every step will be going next, you know?

In short Yes, and No.
Barefeet are a vector to get disease cuts, and have you ever seen a sheep fluke worm? Nasty Nasty stuff.
On the good side your son will know what it feels like to play barefoot at his friends house.
Monitor it if he starts to get sick make sure you remember his barefoot romp when you are telling the Dr.

I used to walk barefoot a lot when I was a child simply because I loved it. It never gave me any problems.

i dont think so. i mean, anything can happen with kids bare foot or whatever they are kids. although i do suggest caution as to where he is barefoot. out in public is always risky especially if there may be trach or glass some where. my daughter (17 months) hates her shoes on. i try not to fight her over it, but i just want to make sure it is in a more controlled area.
don't stress over it =) you and he were just haveing fun and gladly all was well with his feet =)

yes...His little feet could have been burned. He could have stepped on something nasty or broken glass if you were at a fair! Hard to tell what had been dropped! Scrub his little feet good!
BTW...ateamrerun....why do you think it's "hillbillyish" to go barefoot? I am a proud "hillbilly" and I wear shoes!
