all my life i've been dedicated to being the good kid. my grades are good, i dont smoke, drink, hit the pot or anything like that. then i hit college. but my house is too far away from the college. more like 2 hours of commuting away. when i transferred schools, the distance is still the same but i bacame an irregular student. so somedays, i only have one class that lasts to an hour give or take... travelling to school takes more time than actually being in school and its tiring me out! somedays, i get so tired, i dont wanna go to school anymore. p.s. i've never had a boyfriend my entire life.

not only that, but ever since my mom had a fight with my aunts, our house has been nothing more but a brewing pot of trouble. i can't stand staying inside that house without getting sick and depressed and no body ever notices me anyway.

my mom wont let me stay in a dorm without good reason. how do i tell her? shes got to have the worlds thickest skull. and wont listen to reason

He is deveopmentally delayed, and people ask me all the time if he is walking or crawling. I say no, and sometimes explain. I don't want to sound like I'm asking for pitty, even though we have been through a lot with him already.

My boyfriends has a 4-year-old son. I get along with his son really well.

His sons mom doesn't like me and never has. She even told her son that she didn't like me. She comes up with any excuse to complain about me to my boyfriend. He doesn't care what she says, but it still bothers me that she can't get over her problem. I was told that she thinks I'm trying to take her place as him mom, which I'm not. She doesn't want me to discipline him or do anything for him.

She is one of those people who tell their kids they don't have to listen to anyone else but them. He gets in trouble at daycare for not listening and at home with his dad. It makes me mad because she is only hurting her son and I don't think she really cares. She only sees him on some weekends and has 3 other kids of her own and her boyfriend has 3 kids of his own that she deals with on a daily basis.

My question is how or what can I do to help myself deal with this?

I usually have no problem thinking of good party themes, however this time i'm stumped, probably because she doesn't have any particular interests yet, so I have nothing to work with!

Thanks for all of your ideas in advance !

When I ask him to tie his shoes or pick up his room, he puts his head down and cries. When he wants so eat chips instead of dinner he cries. When we are at the store and I tell him no he cries. He just seems to be too old for this behavior in my eyes. This makes me feel so bad as a mother sometimes. I dont always say no, and I dont force him to eat everything on his plate but if it isn't his way exactly he really cries tears! Even when I dont give in, after a while he'll calm down on his own and act as nothing happened....I dont know how to react sometimes....Is he crying just to have his way or put on a show or is he really upset? I guess I dont know if this is a stage hes going through and I should just go with the flow or if I should take it more seriously. Please help!

I have to say things at least 3 times to my 5 year-old daughter before she does what I ask of her... I am afraid that at some point she will get hurt cuz she may not have enough chances to hear me say things thrice... I could use some help, some method that worked for someone else... No mean comments, please.

Common sample parenting issues: the family dynamic feels strained or off balance, I don't know how to connect with my teenager, my child's behavior in public is embarrassing, my child's behavior at home is driving me nuts, etc.

It would help if you noted how many kids you have, how old they are, and your marital/partnership status.

It seems that increasingly, parents in the United States often feel unsupported, or question their parenting abilities/strategies. Walk down the isles of a major book store and you will find 100 books telling you what you're doing wrong, and many of these books have opposing recommendations.

I'm in the process of creating a website that seeks to help moms and dads develop abilities and strategies for raising their children based on internal cares and values.

I hope to create a space where parents can share struggles and successes with one another, and in so doing, create a support system for internally facilitated, empowered parenting.

i have a 2 year old daughter. when she doesn't do what she is told my hubby and i place her in time out. this consists of her sitting on the first stair inside our house for two minutes. this usually calms her down and she is then willing to do what she was asked.

however, sometimes she just starts slapping her hand! for example: i can ask her to put her toys away, if she doesn't want to do it she yells, "no" at me and slaps her own hand, not once but a few times! we have ignored her when she does this behavior but soemtimes my hubby just has to tell her to not do it. even sitting on the stair for time out she will slap herself.

any suggestions as to why and how i get her to stop doing this? there's a little more to it than this ... my ex-hubby, her bio-father, used to have visitations and i suspect he slapped her on her hand and said, "naughty" when she did something wrong. i suspect this since my Now hubby and i dont use "naughty" ....

does this make sense??

I would really like to know what you think about how you should punish your child for doing something wrong. Can you tell me how you think it works and why you think the opposite of that punishment ( ex. time out to spanking ) is wrong.

My son is five. Sixth months ago my brother, his uncle passed away. My son seems to go back and forth. Sometimes he'll mention it and sometimes he will go for weeks without saying anything about it. Me and him do talk alot, we have a very open relationship. But lately he has become obssessed with death. Just asking me alot of questions. Like when is he going to die? How is he going to die? I talked to him so much after my brothers passing and now I am running out of things to say and he just keeps asking me and asking me. I told him to stop talking about dieing. So do you have any suggestions?

My 5 y/o daughter is obsessed with potty humor. Anything to do with "poop," "pee" or "butts" is absolutely hilarious to her. Ok I'll admit it was funny when she was younger, but it's just not funny anymore and it's gotten to the point where she thinks it's funny to talk about vaginas and penises. I cringe whenever I hear my little girl say penis! I've tried everything I can think of to discourage this behavior, but nothing seems to work. I'd really appreciate any advice other parents might have. Thanks.

A man who DID cry at his wife's pain in labor and delivery now that your children are older and you are not on the L&D suite anymore in pain? What good characteristics does your lucky catch posses also? Does he help with the baby? What does he do to help? Does he leave it all to you? Does he help with the house works and details? Just curious...
