Military relationship are really hard. Stay strong for your children and try to do things that will keep you busy and your mind off of missing him. Try doing some craft things with your kids like a one of those paper chain things counting down the number of days till he gets home or something like that. Try relying on your family and friends, and if you life on or near the post you can try talking to the chaplain or something there.

Unfortuantely, I put my girlfriends into this situation a few times when I was in the Marine Corps, and Dad did it to Mom his entire career...
What Mom did was to find others who were in the same boat as her, and they had monthly get-togethers where they would get babysitters, and meet at ones house and play cards, or drink coffee (so they said) and have bull sessions, or go and see a movie, or go to the local Chinese buffet, or something where they could have an adult night out... and they kept the others honest when it came to the tempations of lonliness.

Nothing is going to replace the feelings that come from being alone from your husband!

Are your children old enough for any kind of after school activities? Music, Ballet, Martial Arts, Chess?

Best would be music, First of all, music will support all the classes they will take in school with math being the most important. Martial Arts for mental discipline and defense, Ballet for dance, expression and it supports martial arts. Chess for concentration, mental discipline.

Doing all these things with your children MIGHT help you with the time and it will help them all their lives.

If they are too young for that, then reading, phonetics, praticing writting, zoos, library- leave out the TV. Help them color, paint,
bake and a lot of times- CHURCH will help.
