him does not work. He has no respect for women, but his mom has nothing to do with him so i kinda understand why. I don't think it helps that I am closer to his age than my husbands I am 20 and my husband is 35. My stepson is fixing to be 14. I get so mad at him sometimes, but I try to do the right thing. Me and my husband have been married two years now. I don't think a step parent can do the punishing unless you have been with the child since they were very young. However its hard not to be able to do it when I am the only one here too do it. Help!!!!

My son is 5. He is starting to ask some very normal curious questions. You know, the ones that we dread answering. Do you feel that the truth should be told? Please provide an explanation for your answer.
My husband and I feel that the truth should be told (of course in an age appropriate educational manner.) We were both raised this way and felt it helped us prepare for the real world.

& the world is getting darker, what gives people the motivation to have children. I would feel guilty to bring a child into this cold world. I would rather have children in heaven.

He'll be 15 in a few weeks so he's already talking about it. I don't want to let him. I don't even want to let him ride with his friends that have theirs. He's a good kid and I do trust him to be responsible but that's not the issue...are 16 year old kids really capable of being responsible enough to drive a car?

Do you think that the youth of these past few decades are worse than the ones you saw in your day? If so, what seems to be lacking? What, in your opinion, can be done to (or needs to be done) to bring the vast majority of modern kids back from being little mindless hellians? What should parents adopt to raise better mannered, and respectful kids these days?

I was beaten as a kid, but I don't have bad feelings against my parents for it. I know they did that for my own good.
I have a 3 month old daughter, and as of right now, I would say that I would not hit her or spank her. I would find an alternative method of discipline.
My husband was also spanked as a child, although not as much as me. He says we should never hit our daughter. I do believe I agree.
But what about you? Who thinks spankings as children make for adults who beat on their kids? And who thinks they're an okay method for punishment?

I have tried timeouts, grounding, yelling, taking things away and even spanking. Nothing has worked as of yet.

I mean, none of the non-blonde or Ethnic Barbies is as popular as Blonde-haired blue-eyed Barbie, and they never star in the Barbie movies or books. And Bratz dolls never do anything empowering whatsoever - on the back of every Bratz package, no matter the doll, Karate, Genie, Tennis, Punk, is something tying the theme to fashion. I have some younger nieces- should I be concerned about this kind of stereotyping?

I am young...and I am a nobody...but I have a dream and a vision for someting great! And, I'd love for everyone to be a part of it! Anything, anything at all...it can be happy, sad, really just anything!

My mother constantly is telling me I'm doing things wrong with my 13 mo daughter. I'm a first time mom, but think my husband and I have done very well with her. She will call and say things like: "you're not giving her enough milk, (when she doesn't want it) or feed her a bunch before bed (when she won't eat it) etc...makes me think I am a horrible mother. My mom is very sensitive and a hypochondriac (I think) and I don't want to say anything that will jeapordize our relationship. What should I do or say?

I mean a tap on the hand till the age of three is understandable. Some of these people who answer these questions talk about smacking their children in the mouth. This annoys and upsets me. Is it only uneducated people who result to such violence? Do you think it's because they are not educated enough to come up with a better solution?

He has an two brothers (one turns 8 next month and one turns 3 this month). I think he'd enjoy the lessons and has great focus but I'm not sure at which age lessons should start. He's had two years of preschool and will start kindergarten in the fall. Any advice?
