Yes....i let my daughter who is 4+years old watch and read newspaper "together"....i will sit beside her and explain to her why is it happening.
I think is good for children cos they are able to learn things example
1) seeing that she is fortunate then other ppl.
2) Beware of bad guys
3) after driving with high speed what will happen
4) what is happening around the world
5) etc .....
This is also good bonding time with children......

my daughter is only 2 and a half, so she wouldn't really understand what the news is talking about on tv and she doesn't know how to read yet, so the newspaper wouldn't be a problem! i don't even watch the news that much, cuz i personally think it's boreing.....occassionally if something the news was talking about caught my ear then i would watch it, and i doubt my daughter even pays attention!

If it is on TV Mom or Dad or both need to monitor what is being watched and that includes the news - there are somethings going on in the world today that little kids wouldn't understand even if you explain it to them and it would only scare them so wait till they are older to expose them to it!

Yes, I can't shield them from all the bad in this world, even though I wish that I could. I think that they need to be aware of the fact that bad things happen, and that is just life.
