My ex, as well, does not hold a legitimate job. He is ordered to pay support, but when they find him and garnish his wages he quits. It has been almost a year since I received any support. My son is 14 and it has been this way since our divorce before he even had his first birthday.

The court will order child support. It just won't be very much. Get legal advice and talk to your local child support office.

Heres a great idea. Sue him for child support that you know he won't pay. When he doesn't pay, have him locked up so he cant earn money to pay child support. Isn't our legal system great? Justthink,it will only cost you $2000 to do this. And it makes much more sense than using the money on the child...

I can't wait til they pass the law that allows Dad's to opt out of support of a child. This will cut down on these women getting pregnant to hold a dude down and the child-support-for-profit Mom's BS that's going around like a wildfire in Az.

The child support is based on the income, not on the degree. If he doesn't have a job he should still be required to pay something. I think that in court they could make it add up to back pay, so he will still owe you for the time he hasn't paid.

my niece had a dead-beat baby-daddy. finally the court ordered him to pay $125. a month chlid support. he had NO JOB. this motivated him to get one, since each month that passed with no job, he was getting further and further behind. we live in texas and this un-skilled idiot ended up getting on at the refinery which pays well (because his dad k new someone who helped him get hired on) anyway, she then took him back to court, had the child support raised. this happened in texas. so yes, i believe they can make a chid support order, even if he has no job. good luck and pursue this, for your children's sake.
