I have a 2 and a half year old son. My husband and I have rocked him to sleep since he was born. about three weeks ago we started a new bedtime routine with him, allowing him to learn to go to bed and go to sleep on his own. He's doing well with that part, but naps during the day are torture! He crys for about 2 hours (off and on) b4 finally going to sleep. Hers my ? If I rock him to sleep during the day for his naps will that cause him to regress at night? Will he need to be rocked at night again? Should I let him cry during the day or would it be ok to rock him at naptime only?? Please help! His crying breaks my heart.

Most people work all day and put their children in daycares and stick them with nannies. What is a good way to make spending time with your kids essential? what is a good way to get to know them better?

He isn't around other kids alot cause he is in my aunts care when I'm at work. For no reason, he just runs up to girls smaller than him and pushes them down.

My mother-in-law has hated me since she met me 5 years ago. She told my husband to not marry me, she had a fit when he married me against her wishes.

I feel that since she doesn't think I am good enough to be married to her son, then she should be limited on how much she sees our (future) children.

She essentially never wanted them to be born, and tried to keep us from starting our own family, so why should she enjoy any happiness that comes from our hated marriage?

We feel she should have limited contact with our children, and ALWAYS be supervised, that's if she even wants anything to do with them.

Oh and she is still horrible to me and talks behind my back. My husband thinks she will talk bad about me to our children!

HELP

I just find out thuis past weekend that I'm pregnant for the 3rd time, it was not expected but we love the good news. The problemis that I have a 5 yr girl & an 18th month boy , but the past two weeks I notice on my two kids behaving un-mormal. My boy after I pick him up from daycare he just want for me to be with him he doesn't even pay attention to my hubby & so as my daughter she is more sensitive I can't even raise my voice to her cuz she will cry & she was not like that & now that she knows that I'm pregnant she become more attached to me she even wants to sleep w/ me when she has almost 3 yrs sleeping in her room. Is this just a phase they are going thru?? What can I do so they won't feel bad or jealous?? or worst un-loved.. Any advices will be apreciated.

I just dont know what to say to these people anymore! His doc told me this is his only chance at a normal 5 year olds life.

I mean, I've seen some pretty ugly kids and I always think...well, at least their parents think they're cute.
Could I be wrong? Do some parents think their kids are ugly too?

Do you monitor everything they watch? Do you give them a time limit? How does it work in your house?

My wife and I just recently got married. We're young and have no previous children. When friends and family bring up the topic and ask when we plan to have children, we both answer that we don't plan to have kids. This is always followed by "what??", "no kids!!" or "why not??". I'm well aware that different people have different sittuations and that having children is an obvious choice for some but we've had long discussions and thought long and hard about this decision and feel that it would be best for us not to have children. In order to get a third party perspective, I usually ask "why do you feel it is so important to have kids?" but the best I've gotten are politician answers.....you know, a lot of fluff but no real answer. In regards to this topic, we're obviously in the minority and I'm completely open to new ideas once provided with new information, I just would like to know the logic before I make decisions.

My son is only 5 going on 6 and I am a single mom. Is this a correct age to be asking me these questions? He is asking me about why his body does what it does and if little girls have the same as he does. He is not asking me about sex yet!! I am sure those will come later. Does any one know of a good website or book that can help me through all the different stages in a childs life regarding the males body so that i can be prepared for the questions as they come.

so my husband, me & our 1 yr old son were driving home from dinner last night when the conversation came up about people having gay kids & my hubby says that its in the way they grow up, meaning that they can be brought up gay or not brought up gay. I sternly disagree & tell him that it has nothing to do with that, just because he is a macho man who is into hunting, fishing etc.. doesnt mean that our son wouldnt have the POSSIBILITY of being gay. Then he proceeds to tell me that its wrong & he would let him know that its wrong. So I say "would you disown him?" and he says not totally but he wouldnt be allowed to bring a boyfriend over, he wouldnt go to his wedding, wouldnt be there if they were to adopt a child. Now I understand that this is all just a scenario but what I took out of it is that my hubby has "conditional" love for our son, meaning if he isnt exactly what he considers normal he wont be there for him, we havent spoken since & I am really upset. am i taking this too far?
