The parent has to use his/her authority and demand that the child respect this order. Remove all entertainment, designer clothing, computer privledges and the like. Hold on to his allowances and even a meal or two. Let the parent remind the child that they are the parent, they make the rules, they provide the luxuries, the food, they pay the bills and that as long as they live under their roof, under their authority, under their care, they have no rights until 18 by law. Should the child continue to throw fits, then capital punishment is inevitable. Push comes to shove, lay down the law that "mama brought you into this world, and mama will surely take you out"!

DON'T ENCOURAGE YOUR FRIEND TO ABUSE OR BEAT THE CHILD!

She needs to do something, however. Perhaps she could take away all privileges until the child behaves. THis means remove all electronic games, all TV time, etc. A lot of people ground their kids, but still allow them to have all the amenities. It's not grounding them if they still have a TV in their room, as well as nintendos, etc. That needs to stop, and the child needs to be limited as to what is available to them.

Mom needs to take these things away, and come up with a list of behaviors that they child can do to get those things back. For example, one week of good behavior equals 2 hours of electronic game time.

It's hard to say. It's probablt a mix of lax parenting and puberty. I have a 10 yr old that I am having real problems with. There may be a deep seeded problem too. When you're not actually living in the home it's too hard to judge.

Ive always found a slap to the back side most effective I'm not talking child abuse but these people who try to "reason" with a 18 month old are just asking for trouble later spanking when they are young helps with reasoning when they are older

It's time to start using the belt. If my parents wouldn't have whiped me I might be in prison now or on drugs like my friends who did'nt get whippings. I'm glad that my parents whipped me and I thank them everyday for raising me to be a man.
