My five year old is in bed no later than 8p, and wakes up about 8a. My 22 month old is in bed around 7:30p and wakes up between 6a and 7a (with a two hour nap in the afternoon.) My kids are both great sleepers and have never given me any problems. I strongly feel that establishing healthy sleeping habits creates better quality in your child and gives them a source of consistency.

My little munchkin just turned 1 year old. His bedtime is 8:30, and he gets one nap a day (doesn't matter how long he sleeps...anywhere from an hour to anhour and a half). We have a nighttime routine. He has dinner at 6, bath to follow. Then, we play with a few toys. I let him pick out a book, and we sit on the couch and he turns the pages while I read. I wake him up for daycare at 6:45....on the weekends he naturally wakes up around 7:30, and he has been this way for quite some time. We gave him a bedtime when he was just 4 months old.

My son is 3 and his bed time is 9 PM. This way it gives us time as a family to go see a movie or some special event and it will not interupt with bed time. He wakes up at 7 AM happy as ever! Every child is different though. Play around a little and see what works best for your child.

well he's not my child. he's my brother. i guess he has to go to bed around 9. no later. if kids stay up late then during the day at school they become moody and tired. so its a good thing that kids get bed times. but over time, the older the kid gets, the later the bedtime will be. since they are much older and are able to sleep late and wake up early.
