That depends ont he child's age. If he/she is very young, a fairy tale answer will do. However if the child is 5-6 years old, you want to be as honest as you can without embellishing too many details. Try the special place.
Once you answer this question more will follow. The questions get tougher! Children today are exposed to much more than we were. Even if you limit your child's TV/Video Game exposure, children in school will share. I told my children at a very young age that they could always come to me with any questions about sex or drugs. Boy was that a mistake! My kids knew more about sex than I did by the time they were 10! Okay. That might be a slight exaggeration, but they did ask me very specific questions about things that I was not aware of until I was an adult. I decided the old fashioned way of finding out from your friends might be the best route! : )
This is just the first of many tough questions. You have to find your own way, and you must remember that all children are different. Factor in the maturity of your child.
Best wishes!

When a question from a child is asked, the child has reached the stage where the question should be answered. Depending on her age, an answer of this sort could be given.
'Babies come from a mom's tummy when the father makes love to the mother. He plants a seed that grows and it comes out of the mother after 9 months. God blessed the baby to make sure that more people live in this world.'

Depends on the age of the child asking. Answers will range from simply "heaven" to "mom and dad come together and contribute seeds to have a baby and put it in mommy's tummy where it grows in to a big baby"

Depends on how old they are when they ask. If real young, telling them:
When a mommy and daddy love each other, they get married and have a baby.
usually works. If you hem and haw, turn beet red, cough, generally looking like you're having body spasms, then a child will ask more questions or be led to believe they asked something "bad".
So be cool and direct with your kids, keep it simple, folks. As they get older, pull out a book and go over things with them. Let THEM ask you the questions as that will give you a good idea (along with their age and comprehension skills) how much detail to give.
I would also try to keep religious references out of it, but I guess I messed up with mentioning marriage, my bad.

depends on how old the child is, if they are four I tell them they come from the hospital, after 5 or 6yrs old depending on the child, then you tell them they come from mommy they start out as a seed and grow into a baby and you go to the hospital and the baby is born, I had c-section with mine so i can say they come out of my tummy

From a Mommy's tummy.
Plain and simple. ONLY answer what your child asks. If that question is followed with more then I will answer those questions but usually the child is satisfied with a straight up answer and loses interest.
"Where does rain come from" is not answered with a meterological study or environmental research etc.

I'd say ""Babies come from God and When a man and a woman love each other, sometimes God blesses them with a beautiful baby"". --------------- at that point, i think a young child would be satisfied with that answer. an older child would probably have more questions and a BRIEF, AGE-APPROPRIATE explanation of where babies come from and how would follow

i would say where do you think they come from. then base your answer on how much the child knows. i was told not to add..alot of information.. answer what is asked as concise as possible. the younger the child the least amount of info,.not details. babies come from love.. heaven..GOD.. wishes.. .of course the older the child.. the more you have to tell truth..as tastefully as possible. because unfortunately there are other kids..more than happy to explain..some half ****** story .
