So someone just thumbs-downed me because I mentioned how we don't plan on doing the whole Santa thing with our children.
My family has also thumbs-downed me but in a verbal sense, telling me I'm "ruining their childhood" and "robbing them of memories"....
What's the big deal?
Our reasons for choosing NOT to do this are:
A.) my husband and I are from different religious backgrounds, where we both belive in the birth of Chirst, his religion just didn't recongize the celebrations. So he grew up not celebrating Christmas and I did. This is our compromise to have Christmas celebrations; we get rid of the fake factor, which is Santa.
B.) The whole Santa thing is not the reason for celebrating anyway and it's too over-commercialized. Kids care more about Santa than they do about baby Jesus.
C.) We can have just as much fun and enjoy the spirit of giving with our little family without the extra player.
So why do people criticize me on this? Someone please tell me WHY Santa is a must.

Ok so here's the deal last month I had many pregnancy symptoms such as always tired, bloated, sore nipples, moody, missed period, back aches, bumpy fuller breast etc and I spotted one day and then nothing and spotted again one other day. Then this month I got my "period" but it was late, shorter and, it was not as heavy. Also we have been having un-protected sex for a couple months now. I still have the same symptoms but I took a pregnancy test and it said negative. I have heard of women getting "periods" while being pregnant and also not showing up on hpt for months.. So what should I do? Am I just being too observant?

Hello again ladies and gents.

I was just informed by my OB that I have low amniotic fluid. I know what that means, but what I don't know is what do they do about it?

I am scheduled for another ultrasound on Tuesday of next week.

Please let me know of any experiences with this sort of thing. My first was totally normal in every way.

My daughter is going to be 4 weeks old tomorrow. I decided not to breastfeed this time because with my 1st I had so much trouble getting her to latch and I gave up after about 3 weeks. Anyhow, my daughter has been eating formula - enfamil lacto free.. Well, tonight I notice that my milk supply is still in and it's a pretty good amount so I tried breastfeeding her and she did great. Can I do that since she is already 4 weeks old and has been used to formula?? If so, is there anywhere I can find a cheap breastpump?

My little Joshua is seven weeks and one day old, and his foreskin has retracted, I have asked my GF and she assures me she has not touched it to clean it.

I have read that you should never pull a baby boys foreskin back to clean, but I am worried now as it looks slightly red at the tip of his penis.

Is this normal?

All help is very much appreciated

what do parents do when they are both sick with the flu but have an infant to care for. What should they do? I would say find a baby sitter as much as possible... but what else to prevent spreading to the child?

My DH and I have been married for almost 6 months. We have been together over 6 years, but I know we have time and I shouldn't start to panic now ...BUT

We have been TTC for 3 months. Not a long time, but i just found out my sister in law is preggers. It wasn't planned, she isn't married. She has a 11 year old girl and is living with her BF. I don't want to be jealous, should I. I mean I shouldnt panic now we still have plenty of time right?

my mother in law had alot of problems with her last 2 pregnancies. with her 3rd baby, she had a period until she was 5 months old and did not know she was preg. until she went to the ER with very sharp pains and found out. the dr told her she could not have any kids, ever, but already had 2. anyways, my oldest sister in law had 2 or 3 miscarriages before having her oldest daughter then had another one after that and my youngest sister inlaw might be having one-knock on wood- she was told that she had a 50/50 chance, anyways, could this have anything to do with their mom having difficult pregnancies, and they are the only 2 girls and both are having bad luvk with their 1st pregnancy. or is it just what happens happens? just curious!

My son who is 6,has ADHD, was caught having a flipping the bird battle with another boy who is in his same grade. Both were caught during lunchtime & spent the remainder of lunch & recess in detention. He has detention for the next two school days.

He had one incident in the school year similar to this but we didn't give him a punishment because he truly didn't know that was a bad gesture. Thats not something we do at home nor has he seen it on any kid channels hes allowed to watch so he really didn't know. That time he did it because another kid was doing it.

We explained what it meant and how it was like saying a bad word which he doesn't say either.

We are supposed to have a pre christmas with grandparents, aunts, uncles because we are going out of town for the actual holiday. If everyone preaches santa brings gifts to all the good little boys/girls won't letting him open presents send mixed signals.

Personally we don't think he should be able to? Your thoughts?

I adopted my daugther when she was 6 months old from Kazakhstan. Her birth mother relinqhished custody of her one day after her birth, and she lived in a maternity hospital until I adopted her. Can anyone who was adopted as an infant give your experiences: do you feel "loss" of your birth parents even though you did not know them? I am the only mother she's ever known or will ever know. She is almost 3, and we are a very happy family. But I've read so much on this forum from adoptees who feel angry and hurt. I just would like to hear from different people about their experiences so that I can prepare myself for what to expect when she's older.

For those of you who had your babies without the aid of an epidural...would you do it again? And did you have pain medication of any sort? I'm due anyday and really don't want an epidural as I've heard more bad things about them than good. So please don't encourage me to get one, I just want to know what other pain management techniques you had or used and if your birthing experience was still a pleasant one. Thanks :)

My son is 3 1/2 and he is BAD!
If my son wants something and you say "no" he flips out and screams and crys. He can continue for 30-60 min at one time. Its so hard to keep my patience. it really stresses me out. I have tried time out, spanking and everything. there is no reasoning with him. He does not seem ADHD or anything, just the average 3 yr old from what I hear but with a 14 month old and me being 5 wks pregnant I just want him to listen and when I say no he needs to understand NO WAY NO HOW is he going to get his way.

He also has not taken naps since he was like 2 and anotherthing that REALLY irritates me is that he will repeat himself over and over until you have to scream at him (ie "I dont want to" over and over until I have to say " OK! whatever") then he will shut up. I just dont get it. i can try to be so sweet to him but that doesnt help. I compliment him when he does good. doesnt help AT ALL! HELP!!
