Something to read,( it could be a long night!) two pairs of PJ's, three or four pairs of underwear, that you don't care if they get ruined, (from blood) your own maxi-pads, (the hospital ones are free, but they suck!) A brush and a make-up bag, (people will be taking pictures of you!) Something to concentrate on during your breathing....a stuffed baby toy works nice, because you can concentrate on your breathing AND the baby! Clothing to go home in, for you and baby...(don't expect the baby to be tiny! My third was twelve pounds, and couldn't fit into the outfit I brought!)

You will be surprised how much the hospital can provide for you. The most important thing for me was my contacts and an extra pair of glasses! You might also want to bring a robe and slippers.
Hopefully you have family and friends who can bring you anything you might need by just calling them.
Mostly, you will be so overwhelmed with the birth and the intense love you will feel for this little one. You probably won't even think about anything else at all.
Oh...make sure you have a baby car seat already in your car. The Hospital won't let you take the baby home without a safe baby seat!
Best Wishes!!!!

Well I would first like to say I wish you the best of luck and I hope everything goes well for you!!
For you:
Extra pillow
Slippers
Robe
shampoo/ conditioner
soap
toothbrush and toothpaste
book to read or magazines
maxi pads...the hospital has some but they are too bulky and the slide everywhere
camera
For the baby:
Take home outfit
The hospital will send you home with a welcome package so don't bring diapers and wipies.
Pacifier
hat
socks
make sure the baby seat is in the car
blanket
coat (if you're in an area that it's cold)
Good luck!!

Outfit for the baby, Blankets
Shampoo, Body wash, toothpaste, lotion etc. (for your first shower after the baby)
Cash for the hubby so he doesn't have to leave you!
Loose fitting clothes for yourself
A robe for when they make you walk
Pads the pads they give aren't very good
Video camera, camera
Music that calms you
Something to concentrate on during your breathing
make sure set up the car seat in your car before! so I would do it now.
Good luck! Its a really beautiful experience!

i packed too much the first time...i wasn't aware that the hospital wants you to keep all the extra sanitary pads, tshirts, diapers, paci's, and receiving blankets that are folded in your room....
it's a good deal to remember two outfits for baby (for visitors, and pictures) and your comfy lounge clothes and something to wear home....a comfy robe and socks....granny panties....an empty diaper bag to pack all of the hospital freebies and the gifts from friends and family!

1) Change of clothes for you and toiletries (toothbrush, etc).
2) change of clothes for the baby (they won't let you take hospital-provided baby clothes)
3) Baby Car-seat (some people forget about this)
4) A bat to hit your husband/mate over the head with during labor pains......jk

you really wont need too much, they give you almost everything...definately extra underwear (they give you very big pads cuz you will bleed alot!) and big comfy clothes to go home in, maybe slippers and a robe, your toiletry items, clothes for the baby to go home in (they will give you diapers and formula and whatnot), a camara, and a carseat. not much more than that.

you're not having a baby --- you lie!!! lol.
gosh i wanna answer but it seems you already got a lot. i think most people got it right.
so, i would suggest an iPod for the birthing. either for ginny (can you imagine pushing to the beat of a song?? LOL!) or yourself (to drown out the screaming).
money for anything you guys will want out of the vending machine. :)
