I've always heard 2% or less. Even pregnant we don't requre that much fat content. Many people switch to goat's milk for the digestability as well. Really the only thing you're getting from the milk is extra calcium which you baby will take whether you get enough or not, your general vitamins and nutients are provided through the foods you eat.

The only nutrient whole milk contains that skim milk doesn't is fat. And while fat is important during pregnancy, you're probably getting enough unless you're consciously eating a low-fat diet. Read full answer below.

You can continue drinking skim milk during pregnancy — there's no need to switch to whole milk. The only nutrient whole milk contains that skim milk doesn't is fat. And while fat is important during pregnancy, you're probably getting enough unless you're consciously eating a low-fat diet. Doctors recommend that 30 percent or less of your daily calories come from fat.

To get adequate amounts of calcium and vitamin D during pregnancy, drink four 8-ounce glasses (32 ounces) of skim milk each day, or eat a variety of other calcium-rich foods such as yogurt, cottage cheese, and calcium-fortified orange juice — to name just a few.

organic milk is best, it isn't littered with the hormones, broken down proteins that are artificially reintroduced and other things that make it hard for your stomach to break down milk.

Also it's common for lactose to give women diarrea so just a warning :)

And chocolate taste the best in my opinion :P I have craved milk my entire pregnancy lol

I recommend whole BGH Free milk (it is usually more expensive than the store brand but is marked). It has no Bovine Growth Hormone in it. Organic milk has not been shown to be superior, but an option if you want it. Whole milk has more vitamins (carried in the fat) than reduced fat milk.

Well they say whole milk is best. But I cut back to 2% for myself as I drank quite a bit of it and figured the "extra" calories were not necessary. And glad I did, I've only gained 28 lbs. well within my recommended weight gain.
