I went to the doctor today and made another appointment for next wednesday if he doesnt come by then to set up a date to induce labor. If i do have to induce labor...how does that work? Do you usually pick a date or does the hospital?? Thanks for your help.

I was dilated 1 cm one day when I went to the doctor and the next day I was in labor. It could happen overnight. When you induce you pick the date at least my Dr did. I didn't pay attention to how they induced I was so nervous.

It depends on you really, it can take up to 24 hour to deliver. Do some walking that will help you speed up your labor and make it somewhat easier. The doctor usually sets up a date for you to be induced that's what he did for me because i was not dialating at all and I was already 4 weeks late. Talk to your doctor about and by the time you make your next appointment you will probably be in the hospital delivering.

Actually - it's usually up to the Doc!
Mine had his office call the hospital and I was set up to go in the next AM - like @ 6AM. I went in, and they prepped me and started me on an IV. Doc showed up a little later and broke my water. Just because they induce doesn't mean it's gonna happen on a schedule!. By this time, neither the Doc, the Hospital, or you are in charge - the little one is! I was lucky - had mine in 2 hours (but I was 2 weeks overdue).

The hospital picks the date. Don't worry you are almost there. This is the part that has you most anxious, just relax and wait it out when its time you will know and then you'll regret it and then you will feel the most joy you ever felt, so try and relax right now because when your ten cm, you'll wish you were still at 1 cm. Good luck!

Unfortunately there is just no way to answer that question. The baby will come when ready. It could be now or it could be in a week. (I will hope it is sooner than that.)

My husband joked that I would be 10 days late. The doctors told me that I would go early....My baby was born 10 days past the due date. ARGHHHHHH!!! I was miserable with pregnancy, waiting, and frustration.

Good luck to you!

if it's your first child, you should wait for another week to induce. first child usually comes out later.
in the mean time, eat spicy food and have lots of sex . lol
best of luck to you
