My son's one year appointment is tomorrow and I want to start weaning him to whole milk when the doctor approves him for cow's milk. The problem though is that he really has grown attached to nursing and I want to wean him without having engorgement problems. Is there anything that I can take to dry up my milk quicker?

My husband just asked about relactation after being "dried up" for the past 3 months. If I try to pump milk and it starts flowing good again,Is it safe to give it to my son? Will it upset his stomache and system since he's been on formula so long now.5months.

I am 16 years old and I already know that I want to be a mom.
I want to know what is a good age to do this because the urge is really strong now. I am a senior in high school and plan on going to college so I know that now isn't an option, but I am really serious with this guy and I know that I will have his babies some day. Is 19 or 20 too young? I want to be young enough when my children are teens that I haven't forgotten what it is like to be one. There are also health problems in my family and want to make sure I see my grandkids. How old were you when you had your first kid?
Did any one feel the way I do now at this age?
Any advice is appreciated.

She is 8 years old and small for her age. She is not overweight- she is actually underweight. Sugar also makes her hyperactive, moody, out of control, obnoxious, and downright rude. She has a normal diet that isn't high in sugar but the little bit that she gets make her act this way. Yesterday she actually saw a man near our backyard but her sisters swear they saw no-one. Still she insists and was terrified of this man.

Hi I have a one year old daughter and she won't sleep through. I can't even get her to sleep in her own cot. She wakes up constantly and we have to put her in our bed just so we can all get some sleep. She also still needs a bottle every night. Even when she is in our bed she still wakes up and winges and stirs all night long. We have tried letting her cry for a little bit in her cot but she just stands up and gets louder and louder. I have also tried offering her water instead of milk during the night but she knows the difference and won't stop crying. What are we going to do!!!!! We are getting like zombies because we haven't had a good night's sleep since she was born. Anyone else had this happen?

Did you find that the symptoms and overall experience of each pregnancy you had were different? Did you notice a difference right at the beginning, or later on?

My baby boy is 9 weeks and for the most part he wakes up 2 times for feedings, but there are some nights where he wakes up 3 or 4 times (some for feedings others just because). I am back at work, and it is very draining. Any suggestions to help him sleep through out the night, or at least 5 or 6 consecutive hours.

she's five weeks old and bottle-feeding. usually she does well, but sometimes she struggles and cries durring feeding. I've checked to make sure it isn't too hot, she has clean diapers, and it's only after about twenty minutes of struggling and crying she finally calms down and eats. She can breathe through her nose, and I am getting a little uneasy about it. anyone else out there have the same problem?

my baby is due in less that 4 weeks and i want to know do we really need a snowsuit? I have read that it is not good for babies to overheat and sweat. we have a cover to go over the carrier that has a little "window" to pull back so that we can see his face. chances are he really won't be outside much and i'm just wondering if a snowsuit is really necessary. how many of you have snowsuits for your children and if you don't then what do you suggest we put over him or under him to keep him warm? thanks

my little boy has a real problem,he tells lies.He is nine years old and always denies any wrong doing, even if someone see's him doing it! for example yesterday he squirted a whole carton of juice into someones locker at school, several children saw him do it.. his response..just like Shaggy..it wasn't me.He even says that the other children weren't there so they could't have seen him.He has lied to me,his teacher, his headteacher.Worse he has blamed another innocent boy.

because there is no video footage or forensics I can't "prove" that he did it,I just believe the overwhelmimg evidence that the other kids have told me.

In the past I have always wanted to believe him, even falling out with other parents by taking his side.I feel that he is abusing my belief in him and learning a very bad attitude

What should I do to help him understand that what he is doing is wrong because noone will trust him ...ever!

Can anyone help me find a decent book or website that can help me with the emotional aspects of weaning my baby? Most of the ones I've found keep rambling about "don't wean" Iits like they're trying to make women feel bad if they don't nurse their kids into college or something. Well hes 14 months, did a great job with breastfeeding and has gradually self weaned which is fine. He hasn't been at the breast in about a week(not a nursing strike). Anyway I'm having a tough time emotionally and I can't make it to La leche league meetings.

my 3 week old used to latch on right, and i never had a problem, but lately hes been nursing like i've never fed him before, and chews away at my nipples really hard. My nipples are beet red and chapped. I've seen a lactation consultant and everything, she taught me how to nurse properly, but still....its horrible. what can i do to either a) fix the latch (its almost as though hes impatient) or b) fix the red chappiness?

She is 2 1/2. If she skips her nap she is pitiful by 5pm and often falls asleep on the floor anyway with the same results even though I only let her nap 15 minutes or so if it is after 5. Her usual nap was from 1-3. I have always had to wake her up from her afternoon naps because I swear she would consider it nighttime and just sleep for 7 hours. I wake her at 3 so that she can still get to sleep later that evening.
Problem is when I do wake her up she gets so angry that she sounds like a possessed animal of some sort. She will carry on and cry and roll around anywhere between 30-60 minutes. It is horrible. I've tried putting her to bed earlier but she gets a second wind if in bed any earlier then skips the nap herself only to fall apart around 5 p.m. again. I just don't know why she gets hysterical when she wakes up. By the way, hysterical is not overstating the situation. Would you just skip naps at this age and maybe put her in the bath or something around 5 to keep her going?
