she's five weeks old and bottle-feeding. usually she does well, but sometimes she struggles and cries durring feeding. I've checked to make sure it isn't too hot, she has clean diapers, and it's only after about twenty minutes of struggling and crying she finally calms down and eats. She can breathe through her nose, and I am getting a little uneasy about it. anyone else out there have the same problem?

Does she take a few sucks, then lets go, arches her head back and scream? This is often a sign of reflux esophagitis. The treatment for this condition has changed since I have retired, but you can discuss it with the baby's doctor.

Sorry, but I don't want to make outdated recommendations.

Are you feeding by schedule or on demand? If its on a schedule maybe she isnt hungry yet. Either way she may be getting too much milk too fast. Are you using slo-flo nipples.

Try different size of nipples smaller, and slow. you also maybe your baby need burp? try burp her see how it's going after that.
