no, the child becomes 100% your responsibility. the father cannot see the child and owes zero support.

Call legal aide because it varies from state to state. In most states yes you do unless you are singing your rights away so that another man can adopt the child. Then the child becomes the adopted/ step fathers resposibiltiy. When you sign your rights away you are just saying you have no right to visitaion or in how the child is raised the courts say the child still needs support and it is in their best intrest that the child keep giving support. If this was the case most men /the dead beat ones would just sign thier rights away. It is to simple for them to do that so no it is not allowed

I don't think he is liable for child support at that point.
However, if it is just that your have soul custody that is different.
Please consult with an attorney. Years ago before I married my son's father...I had soul custody, but he paid child support (he also visited his son).
Later we married and then divorced... We now have joint custody, but I am the custodial parent... he still pays child support.
Normally a guy would sign over his rights if you married and your husband wanted to adopt the child so you guys could be a family.
He would sign over his rights if you were giving the baby up for adoption.
Just double check with an attorney to make sure you are using the right wording.
Good luck... Your baby deserves to be financially supported to the best of both of your abiliities. . . not just yours.

I can only answer that in Canada you are unable to sign over your parenting rights in order to avoid child support. The child always maintains their right to child support.

Yes,,he still has to pay child support. The only reason he wouldnt is if after his rights were terminated and a new husband adopted him, then he wouldnt have to pay.
