Yes she did, but... its her daughter. She's allowed to buy her however much she wants.

Your friend REALLY only bought her daughter some games, web kinz, and some kids jewelry.
The computer and digital camera were just an excuse for buying it for herself lol

Personally, I dont think its too much? If she can afford it, why not? To each his own!?
With that said, my daughter will be 7 in Feb. and will have a ton of presents under the tree! Books, DS Games, board games, playdoh, new crayons/art supplies, some kid jewelry, few DVD's, and some stocking stuffers like bubble gum smacker lip gloss and new socks LOL
The bike and Barbie are awesome gifts too! Sounds like she'll have a great Christmas! :)

What does a 7yr old need with a digital camera? It sounds like she didn't go too far. I don't know what web kinz is but it sounds like most of the gifts are somewhat educationalish...

I think that is too much to spend on someone so young. Would the child need all that equiment at the moment.? Your friend should be more wise in choosing gifts that would keep the child physically and mentally active like your presents.
The child could develop anti-social behaviour as a result of too much time on the computer and lack the creativity and imagination that playing with toys encourage.
I agree that is too much money to spend and the child is at risk of growing up to be spoilt and selfish if the mother keeps going this way.
Maybe if you can talk to your friend to reconsider for the child's sake and for her financial sake.

You can't judge your friend. If she's got the money, then it's her business on how to spend it. I'm sure there are things your friend doesn't like about your child rearing practices. But, she doesn't have the right to judge the way you raise YOUR children.
Also, it's a bit judgemental to say this little girl is spoiled. For all we know, she could be a lovely little girl. Material possession don't make kids spoiled brats. It's their mentality on life.

What in the hell does a seven year old need with a computer and a digital camera? I don't understand why parents insist on buying their young children things like that. A bike and a Barbie sounds absolutely fantastic. I would have loved it when I was younger -- matter of fact, I DID love it! :(

Many parents tend to spend allot on their child if they only have one child. I have a step-son and he probably makes out better than other children at Christmas time. Although, we do make sure that he understands the meaning of Christmas and he likes to give as well.

The kid seems a little on the greedy side. Just because a kid wants something that doesn't mean he/she in entitled to have it. If your friend wants to spend more money on gifts for her daughter, well, that's her business. You've done your part.

People have different views on all that. Some would say the kid is spoiled, others would not. It's probably best that you don't get involved. It is her kid, so it's her choice.

No, don't spoil her. A bike would be enough, but throwing in that Barbie was nice.
