Pregnancy & Parenting - 9 February 2007

We recently moved away from all our friends and family so a baby shower is out the question. Our family and friends are scattered around the country at every end. Since we are not having a shower is it appropriate to send out some sort of announcement before the baby is due, to formally inform friends and family and let them know where we are registered? If so when? At how many weeks should something like this go out? Thanks for your help in advance..

I'm trying to conceive and I want to know how long sprem can live inside of the body before it acutally gets to the egg. My boyfriend will be visiting me from out of town and I will not ovualte until 4 days after he leaves. What's the best possible way to ensure pregnancy.

What is considered the safe range of prenancy? Meaning at how far along are you when you can stop worrying about miscarrying? I am just wondering b/c this is my first pregnancy and everything seems to be normal but every pregnant woman worries about having a miscarriage. Thank you for all of your feedback from everyone!!!!

My daughter is 13 and she bonds better friendships with boys than with girls. I have no problem with that. She is especialy close to one boy who is 11 (yes, she's getting teased at school about that and doesn't care). Now she wants us to approve her having him as a boyfriend. We have a 'no boyfriend' rule so I asked her for their definition of a boyfriend. She said that they would just hang out together and talk. So I'm okay with that and set some boundaries - no physical contact beyond the normal with any of her friends, grades cannot got any lower (already struggling), she is not to ignore her other friends, no boys in the house (they can hang out in the yard). I accepted her definition and she agreed to the boundaries and I told her that this really means that they are friends - no more and no less. The boy totally accepts this however, my daughter is still acting all depressed about it. Furthermore, she didn't want me to tell my husband about it and the boy said that he couldn't...

i'm due march 6th and on the paperwork from my husband's work they want to know the date that we want the leave to start. maybe they'll let it start when the baby comes but i'm not sure.

he's thinking of taking two weeks because that's what the last guy who had a baby did but i was wondering what most people do.

My best friend is in the hospital awaiting the arrival of her second daughter. She is going to be in there at least a week before the baby is born due to complications, and she is on bed rest. You can only watch so much tv! What can I bring her to keep her occupied until the bundle of joy arrives? Her birthday also falls during this "vacation" Any suggestions is appreciated!

Im on maternity leave and im taking 8 weeks off. I work at a daycare which i take my 3 year old. Just wondering when i go back if he will throw a fit and have to get use to it all over again after being there for almost a year. or if he'll remember and be comfortable. should he be going instead of staying home with me for the 8 weeks? also I dont want to take him there if im not there, what should i do?

I had my membranes stripped 3 days ago and nothing :( I had to be induced with my first baby and hated it, I hated forcing something that wasnt ready. Thats why i wanted some help to get things started but it didnt work. im 3 cent. dialated and 50% im 40 weeks today and so ready. just really anxious. when is she gonna come!! I've also had some regular 10 min. contractions but they always go away after a couple of hours. she is teasing me.

I got a E-mail saying that ovulex really does not cause ovulation.I am 28 and wana get pregnet and i heard about ovulex so i ordered it then i got a E-mail saying that it does not work I need to know if it was a waste of my money or am i just wasting my time on it.

exactly how good is the EPT certainty HPT?? I have the digital one and I havent used it yet. I have an feeling that I might be pregnant but I dont want to waste a test if it is too soon to test. I have spent soooo much money over the past few months on pregnancy tests..so my hubby wants me to only use it if I really need to. My period is due on sunday the 11th. I took a Home pregnancy test on the 7th in the evening and it was negative. should I retest again tomorrow morning the 10th?? or should I just hold out and see if I get my period or not?? How accurate are the digital tests..I am nervous to use it. I have heard so many stories of people getting very faint almost not noticable positive results from the regular HPT....but that cant happen with a digital one...right?? are digital HPT more sensitive or no?? have any woman out there gotten alot of negative results from a digital even though they were pregnant?? how soon did some women get positive results from the digital?

Ok me doctor had done a progesterone challenge on me 10mg for 7 days because i hadnt had a period in about a year or possibly longer after i finished the challenge i had a pretty somewhat heavy period that lasted 5 days well two weeks after i had my period i had spotted for two days and it was brown, turned kind of pink the second day for about a half hour then i woke up the next morning and it was all gone, what could this be i'm not sure for my period for another week or two, I am not on any birth control and my husband and i have unprotected sex. could be ovulation?? if so do you think that progesterone challenge got me ovulating again or could it be something else???

Went for a 3d a few days ago when i was 34 weeks and 2 days. The baby was measuring 35 weeks and 4 days and 6lbs and 1oz. I am now 35 weeks and 1 day and i lost my mucous plug a couple of days ago and i am noticing an off and on pain in the lower part of my stomach. The baby is also not moving as much as he did. Still moving but less. I am just start to feel to different overall. I am wondering could labor possible be near??

I have some maternity clothes, but now they are getting a little tight. I know I have to buy a couple more outfits now, but....

If pants fit you kinda tight in the stomach area, does it affect the baby? Or is it "cushioned" ok still inside?

Iam beside myself with my daughters constant crying. We have just gotten up from the dinner table and she has told me that she is not hungry any more and wants down. We are cleaning the table from dinner and she says to me she is hungry and wants something to eat. I say no of course because she did not finish her dinner. What does she do? She cries. I say it's time for bed she cries. I tell her to leave her blanket at daycare, she cries. She leaves her blanket at home after being told not to take it home, she cries. I tell her it's time for a bath she cries. I tell her hi you look pretty, she cries. I almost don't want to go home anymore because between my 1 year old and my 5 year old it is like a crying symphony in my house at any given moment. I can not go on like this anymore. Please someone help, what can I do to get my 5 year old to stop crying more than her 1 year old brother.

I was having a itch for a day. I think it was from a body wash that had perfume in it. I bathed again and used something different and i have been ok since.
