I'm trying to conceive and I want to know how long sprem can live inside of the body before it acutally gets to the egg. My boyfriend will be visiting me from out of town and I will not ovualte until 4 days after he leaves. What's the best possible way to ensure pregnancy.

As far as I know, sperm can live up to 5 days in fertile cervical fluid. W/o cervical fluid, they can only survive about 30min-4 hours. Unless you are experienced w/ checking your own CF, you probably won't be able to easily identify fertile CF as opposed to arousal fluid or seminal residue.
If you are TTC, I can't recommend charting enough. Charting is really the only reliable way of telling if your cycles are working for you or against you and for timing your intercourse to your fertile period. A woman is only fertile for about 6 days a cycle!! And for most women, ovulation rarely occurs on or about Day 14.
Some good sources: Fertilityfriend.com (free software as well as a pay-for version and on-line charting turorial); ovusoft.com (discussion boards for many fertility related issues, much info on fertility after the pill, and a very good software for purchase). The books Taking Charge of Your Fertility (associated w/ the the ovusoft website and software) and Garden of Fertility.

Usually they say sperm live between 3 and 5 days 3 days being the norm....If you have a normal cycle and you know exactly when you ovulate, you have a better chance conceiving..they say it takes the average couple 6 months to a year to conceive..although it could happen the very first time!!!!!! They can survive up to 5 days in the perfect environment. That happens around the time you ovulate that is why you have an increase of discharge when you ovulate. It could happen but I think you will have a slim chance this month. Good Luck

On adverage sperm lives 2 to 4 days inside the body,however it can live up to 7 days. No way to insure, sorry.

Ummmm..... boyfriend?? uh, how about waiting until youre married to have kids? Does he know what youre scheme is, to get pregnant and trap him into either marrying you or paying child support? No, i doubt he does. If i could find this guy i'd let him know just what youre up to. For the love of that unborn child, give it a rest, honey, and do the guy a favor and use a rubber.
