My son was in the NICU for 9 days and I have noticed that he was 'behind' with most of his milestones. Keep in mind that some children never crawl at all- but simply start pulling themselves up on furniture and walking. My son did not start crawling until he was 10 months. Some children are also just cautious...won't take the plunge unless they are sure. Tempt her to move by putting something just out of her reach when she is up on all fours. A favourite toy- even food- If she reaches for it with one hand it will help to strengthen the muscles in her hips and torso which are needed to crawl. Also gently rock her holding her hips- fowrward and back when she is in this position. Rough and tumble play before you start will also help loosen her muscles- a fun job for Daddy! Crawling is actually really hard work- don't worry- when she is ready she'll crawl- every child develops at different rates.

Dont worry..it is completely normal for your child to be not crawling yet. Every child is different and grows and develops different. Try tummy time more often thoughout the day with her. This will encourage her to push up and maybe "army crawl" (crawl on her belly). You just might have one of those special children that skip crawling and immediately take to walking instead! Good luck with your child and spend lots of time with her...they only stay little once!

This is normal! She is attempting to crawl by getting on her knees...it may be a small try but she is trying! Every child is different and will develope their skills at their own pace...so be patient! And, try not to compare one child to the other. Plus, her crawling later does not have anything to do with her mentality! She is waiting until she is good and ready!!!

Her brain just needs a little stimulation to realize where her feet are. When you are sitting on the floor with her pat her bottom and then pat the soles of her feet. keep doing this all through the day when she is awake and withing a couple of days she will be crawling and getting into everything. Then you will wish she wasn't haha . Good Luck

My little girl never crawled. She is now almost 4 years old and never crawled. Not an inch. And she's an exceptional child now. She excells in everything; even physical activities. Don't worry. I personally don't believe it's a necessary milestone. She sounds like a girl who knows what she wants to do. Just love her and encourage her. Whatever you do, don't let it frustrate you - she'll be fine, promise. :)

She'll get going when she is ready and keep in mind that some babies never crawl - one day they just pop up and start to walk.
Just give her time. Also, you can always call the pediatrician and voice your concerns. I'm pretty sure they'll tell you that if she's normal developmentally in all other departments that you should just let nature take its course.

I pretty much agree with everyone else. My daughter didn't crawl, she seemed to have just gotten up one day and started walking! We can't wait for them to walk and talk, but, now at 8 y/o, sometimes I wish she would sit down and hush!! lol
I would be patient, as stated before, children accomplish things at different ages. Call your pedi and voice your concerns, just to ease your fears. Good luck and God Bless.

Dont worry. We have two children and I started to compare ours to each other. Each child is there own person they all develop at different paces. Our oldest son was talking in full sentences at a year. Whereas our youngest is 16 months and only says a few words. I wouldnt worry about her she is showing signs that she is interested so I would just give her time.

My daughter was born 8wks early and didn't do everything as quickly as her sister did. We had to let her do it in her time and eventually she did it all.
Every baby developes differently, no 2 can compare. If your pediatrician isn't worried than I wouldn't worry at all. Some babies even skip crawling all together!

It sounds like she may just end up skipping crawling and go straight to walking. My sister never crawled, just started trying to pull herself up. When she gets up on her knees, try to help her a little to stand.
