Pregnancy & Parenting - 9 February 2007

Well, I am 6 weeks pregnant today. I found out I was pregnant 2 weeks ago and went from 25 a day to 2 or 3 a day. Then three days ago I completely cut out smoking. This is my third day of no cigaretted and I'M GOING NUTS!!!!!!! I am teetering on the edge and am so close to grabbing a smoke. I DON'T WANT TO but it's so damned hard!!! How much longer will these withdrawals last?? I am not only feeling it physically but emotionally I am a mess. Got into a HUGE screaming match with my hubby today over next to nothing. I'm afraid I'll drive him crazy too! Please help me!! Tell me this isn't going to go on much longer! This stress I'm feeling cannot be good for the baby!! :(

BACK PAIN.. it was bothersome at first now its hurting me..

My daughter will not get used to cold milk. When I am on the go I want to heat up milk and place it in a thermos container. How long can I kepp cowmilk warm and give it to my child. Does it go bad after a certain amout of time? How long is that?

She is 2 years old tommorrow, and she and her twin both have been showing interest. How do you deal with the nightime issues since she is hooked up to a pump, and stuck in a crib until she is 3 or 4? Also I had read to reduce fluid to make it easier to predict when they will need to go, but with her it is NOT an option. Every ounce is precious, counted, and non negotiable. Thanks in advance!

When I have breakfast, I get very bad pains in my stomach. Not like I have to run to the bathroom kind of pain, just stomach pain. Sometimes, it's so bad I cannot even move! Eventually, it just goes away. I asked my doctor and he says its just gas. I also have acid reflux which I believe could be one reason for it. But has anyone else experienced this? If so, what made it go away?
I'm 12 weeks pregnant by the way, and serious answers only please!

this is a little werid but I was just curious if anyone else had this going on I'm 22 weeks and 6 days pregnant and I have only felt sore breasts for the first 2 months of my pregnancy but the last 2 months my nipples get sore when they get hard I have never had that happen before but was just curious if any of u pregnant women are experincing this with ur nipples getting hard ?

i remember when i had my first son the pains were not to bad but after my second it was like labour pains all over again i am now pregnant with my third and final and am worried about the after pains i aint worried about labour pains as i know they can give you strong pain relief does after pains get worse after each labour?

I recently started taking Loestrin24. I am on the second week of my second pack and absolutly no bleeding has occured. I took a preg test and it came up negative. I've had a dramatic weight gain that i can not get rid of and my breast are HUGE. I feel sick when i wake up in the morning and feel queasy all day long. I feel a slight pain/pressure in my stomach and lower abdomin that has been there for about a week or so. I plan to take another preg test in about three days just to be on the safe side. Is this just normal side effects and is there anything else i can do?

If you had unprotected sex and think you may be pregnant, when would the morning sickness start? My best friend says that she slept with someone two weeks ago, and she's getting sick in the mornings. Is that a sign of pregnancy, or just the flu?

I understand in the long run having a child is very expensive, especially when they get to school age and need this and that and a car and college, etc. But I want to have a child in the next year or so. My husband is convinced that he's not having one until he's "financially stable" when in essence really isn't possible for most people. B/c he means he wants to have enough saved up for EVERYTHING before we even have one... which unless you're a millionaire i don't believe is possible. So to start off, how much do you really need extra a month? We both make a pretty good amount of money for where we live. A crib, clothes, diapers, medicine, etc would be given to us to start off with by family members and friends... I know most people buy newborn and 1-3 month stuff for showers so I plan on, when I get pregnant, buying one thing of diapers every week that i'm pregnant and probably clothes as well. so with all of that in consideration how much do you think a couple needs to begin?

My daughter is 5 months old and whenever she is tired and I try putting her to sleep she just screams and screams. I don't know what to do eventually she falls asleep but is there any way to avoid the screaming. Thanks!

Nika, my little one can only say no, mom, bye and dad, sorta. I am not even sure she knows exactly what those words mean. She understands some of the things I say like come here, but I am getting a little concerned with her speech. I wasn't worried before but she is in a program called "Help Me Grow" which a service coordinater comes over to your home and screens your child to see if she is developing properly. She excells in physical growth, but has a few social problems. I know it is not autism because she is social, but she babbles a lot and doesn't seem to be learning any words. I am not certain what to do. We play with her a lot and we read books, but she doesn't seem to be picking up on any words. The thought never occured to me before, but the last time my coordinater was here I was babysitting my younger brother who hardly says anything you understand and he is five. She asked me if it was a possibility that speech problems run in the family and now I am not so sure.

So I put the leftovers in the fridge and they turn brown. Is it allright to feed the leftovers to him the next day. They aren't rotten, just brown, right? That's what fruit does when it's exposed to air. My husband and I disagree on this - he thinks it rotten and I think it's just brown. What do you think?

I have a very hard time with this. I just want to know if anyone has a reason they've heard or used themselves that justifies doing this to your baby... a infant that DEPENDS on you. I have 2 former friends that are doing this. Drugs I can somewhat understand, as they are an addiction that is near-to-impossible to quit without help and a strong resolve.
