And do you go and get her when she wakes up. If you know she's not hungry and has a clean diaper, leave him/her there. Don't spoil them, sleep is good!

Unless she is hungry or waking up crying from pain, I would say nothing, some babies cat nap as opposed to taking 2 or 3 long naps throughout the day.

I have read that infants four to five months old on average usually only sleep about 14 and a 1/2 hrs per day(depending of the baby).

There is nothing wrong, your baby just takes short naps. My 8 month old started taking shorter naps around 4 months old as well. They will sleep when they are tired and wake up when they want to. Taking shorted naps during the day means they will sleep longer at night.

My 7 month old has always napped like that. He sleeps for 30-45 min in the morning and afternoon. He goes to sleep every night at 7pm and sleeps until 8am the next morning. So I'd rather have him sleep all night then nap all day!!!

I have a 3 month old who just started doing the same thing. If I am lucky he will take a long nap in the afternoon, but not everyday. I have read somewhere that they do not sleep as good if they are going through a growth spurt.

Babies naturally wake up after 40-45 minutes. Some can put themselves back to sleep, and some cannot. Adults wake up many times during the night, but usually don't notice because we know how to put ourselves back to sleep. If the baby was put to sleep in a different condition than waking up then they will probably get upset and will not go back to sleep. For example if you nurse your baby in your arms to sleep and then 40 minutes later they wake up alone in their crib..they are not going to be happy. It's like you going to bed and then waking up on your front lawn.
You don't have to, but some people prefer, to "train" your baby how to self soothe and stay sleeping after that 45 minutes. I would suggest reading the baby whisperer. It's a good book. Also the babywhisperer.com is a good resource as well. Hope this helps :)

Babies grow pretty fast and she may need a new sleep schedule. Just keep trying new schedules and planns until one fits the baby and the family. Consistancy is the key to a good night of sleep. If the baby is on a regular schedule than you will be too! (that's a good thing)

All kids are different, but maybe she has gas, maybe she's wetting, maybe there is some noise or not enough?

Try making sure she's well burped, freshly diapered, and maybe use a white noise machine or small fan placed away from the crib, but in the same room.

It maybe be that your child isn't one of those long nappers. I'm sure you're exhausted.

i am lucky coz my daughter sleeps long naps. only that she developed sleeping habits like having something to cover her eyes while sleeping and instead of a blanket she prefers a pillow over her. and even if it is noisy she just sleeps her way through it.

try keeping it dark where she sleeps and keep her warm. she's just 4 mos. maybe she's longing for that warm and comfy room she had when she was just in your womb.

Make sure ur baby is not too full or his her tummy may hurt or reflux put pillow under mattress to lift up head of baby...have semi dark room with white noise in background like a fan or a vaporizer or something like that.make sure temp in room is not too hot or too cold..sometimes babys just change schedule as they grow..sounds normal but can be stressful for the mom cause its hard for you to get a break...
