I've had two babies and after the first it felt like mild period pain after the second it felt like strong period pain/mild contractions. I found that paracetamol and a hot water bottle worked. Apparently, according to my midwife, these pains get sorer for your first three pregnancy's but when you have your 4th it will be the same as your first!!
I wasn't expecting it to be as sore the 2nd time, and it kinda puts me off having a 3rd baby.
Good Luck with the rest of your pregnancy! Gx

I too am expecting my third baby...the afterpains after the second were excruciating..im dreading it again. I was on really strong ibuprofen, but that didn't work. About two weeks later when i was still in agonising pain..i was referred back to the hospital only to discover i had a womb infection. A course of anti-biotics later..all better. I know what to expect this time...but i wasn't told about afterpains with my second til i started having them. I mabaged just to grit my teeth and bear it....if painkillers dont work..nothing will!

I remember the afterpains after my 3rd baby and they were worse than previous . I thought i was in labour again so i suggest you get super-duper pain killers at the ready , obviously depending if you are breastfeeding ..

I don't remember after pains after my third, but will never forget worrying about them when I was in labour!!! It was the labour pains that reminded me. Not to worry, you won't get them.

i personally found that after each child the after pains got worse, the dr can give you some strong painkillers though so they will help, good luck

they do last a while longer on the third i'm afraid but if your worried ask the doctor if there is something he could give you .neurofen are very good but not sure if they can be taken if you choose to breastfeed .
