Pregnancy & Parenting - 4 November 2006

I went into labor almost 3 weeks ago and they gave me procardia to stop contractions. I started having contractions again 4 days later and they upped the medication, but it was affecting me very badly. I have now quit taking it, but am not having any contractions at all. Will the medication I took affect the time I will start having contractions again? I am very miserable and am not getting maternity pay due to not being on my job but for 2 months. Any suggestions on what to do to start the contractions up again?

Will someone please tell me what is benefitted from spanking? What does it teach a child? Is there a lesson to be learned? Why do people/parents do it? Are there any benefits to this form of discipline? Personal experience, your parenting techniques, or educated guesses are welcomed!

ok. my boyfriend Eric is in this juvie/alternative school thing. and ive dated him for so long and i KNOW for a fact that i love him (so no questions about that please!) now my problem started when he got picked up by the police (which was like 3 days ago). i found "comfort" to one of his really good friends named Steven. Steven told me that he liked me as more than a friend for a long long time. I think i kinda like him too. But i dont think i can do that to Eric (my real boyfriend)! im gonna talk to Eric's best friend, JC about this. But i cant until he comes back on Wednesday. so until then, im askin for yall's help!

I bf with my daughter for 16 months. I just had my son and am bottlefeeding him instead of bf. Can your breast still fill up with milk even if you are bottle feeding? If so, how bad is engorgment if you are not nursing and how long will it take for it to stop?

I have been pumping since 3 months old when I went back to work and the babysitter will give my baby the breastmilk 2-3 times per day while I am away (I feed him at lunchtime). He has recently (he is now 10 mo) quit taking the milk from a bottle. He is eating solids all day long, I feed him in the am, at lunch, and eve...still at night too...and when I am with him all day he eats solids and breastmilk all day. For some reason when dad or babysitter try he will only eat 1-2 oz (and takes forever to do so) from a bottle. Is he trying to wean himself? I am not really ready to wean him yet but not sure what's going on. Consequently, I am now overstocked with frozen breastmilk and have to start dumping. I have recommended the sitters use a cup but am not sure that they have given that a solid try yet.
Any experience with this or advice?

i have one day bleeds and spotting for 3 days i still have sore nipples and feeling of butterflys in my tommy i can't sleep at night, wee a lot, but every test i have had is negative. I have had 3 girls and all were negative but this was 26 years ago now it's hard to get a doctor to even gave you a scan.

ok as some of you know me and my fiance have been trying to concive my last period was sep 25....about 3 weeks ago I had some drk brown spotting my boobs are sore and im hveing alot of discharge and im deff more tired then normal im hvein heartburn alot and I dnt know if this means anything but im getting stomach acks alot...im hve cramping once in awhile......I took a 5 day early preg test first response and it came up neg...does this sound rght???
should I go get a diff test or just mke appt with dr?????

I know a lot of people have asked this stupid question but hear me out. I took a prgnancy test(pos.) Blood was tested at the hospital (pos.)Then I had an ultrasound and they can't find ANYTHING. I'm supposed to be 21/2 months,but no heartbeant and no baby. I have been spotting for over a week,but docs aren't sure if I had a miscarriage. Has anyone ever had to go through this? I'm ok with the miscarriage and with the pain. I just want to know what is going on.

I'm a single mother of a 5 yr old girl. I haven't been with her father since I was preggo, and he hasn't played an active role in her entire life. He only sees her once every 3 months. He doesn't pay his support, he doesn't buy any necessities for her, ( clothing, school fees/supplies, etc.) And he never has. But every now and then, when he decides to step into his daughter's life again, he will bring up taking me to court for custody. I have tried to avoid it cuz I was told that I would end up with joint custody and I feel that's not in my girl's best interests. When he wants to be, he can be VERY controlling and has already told me that when he has his visits, he is to have them and she can't do her planned activities, ( sleepovers, dance lessons, etc.) And countless more demands. I would like to have sole custody and give him visitation rights. Do I have grounds for this? Why should he have joint custody when he has never played an active role in her life??

Well there is this guy that I have known scince 7th grade and I have liked him scince then. Latley he seems to notice me more. We are already close friends but I don't know. So my friend decided to ask him about it and he said to her that he had been thinking about it alot latley and he didnt know what he was going to do. i had one shot of the Depo-provera was ment to go back and have my next one on the 24th june 2006 i didnt as me and fiancee are trying to conceive i had my first period on the 4th september the next one on the 3rd of october and then my 3rd on the 27th october my question is can i now start trying to concieve now that im getting my periods...??

My aunt and uncle are having their second child soon. They already have a 9 year old daughter, and their baby is due around Christmas 2006. Since my uncle is Italian, they would like to pick something maybe Italian, or just a really nice name in general. My aunt gets to chose the girl's name and my uncle gets to chose the boy's name. They have left the gender of the baby a secret too! However, they're having trouble picking names. My aunt likes Michaela (different spelling though) and my uncle doesn't. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions??, and if you've got any good Italian names, please, I'd love to hear them for suggestions!

My wife and I are expecting (Late May due date). We currently have a 2.5 year old Healer Mix who loves walks and the dog park. With work and weather, some days we cannot get him to the dog park or out for a walk and he can be insufferable. My thought is to get another dog for him to play and interact with. My wife disagrees and thinks that getting another dog is a bad idea because when the baby comes, we will have two bored and neglected dogs instead of one.

Anyone have experience with this? Any advice would be helpful.

Is expressed milk that has been frozen and then thawed in the fridge okay after 48 hours or is that pushing it. Mind you that that 48 includes thawing time. It was completely frozen when it entered the fridge Thursday and it will be fed to my child this evening.

Our son is almost 2 months old and is passing hard bowels. Almost the size and shape of a small egg. Silly putty consistancy. He's also been put on good start soy formula to lessen his puking.
