The official limit is 12 oz a week for pregnant women, but I think that's high.

You don't want to take a chance with your baby so I'd stick to one 6 oz can a week (which is only 3 oz of tuna after draining).

We love tuna on Kimkins!

Remember the other "large" fish to avoid also like mackerel, sharp, tilefish and sea bass. They're big and eat other fish who also have mercury and that's why they have so much.

Because of the mercury they tell you not to eat anything but light white tuna and no more than 1 serving per week. Albacore tuna and light tuna are actually 2 different fish from 2 different areas where mercury levels vary. I safely ate this tuna during my pregnacy.

Yes hun you can have tuna when you are pregnant, I don't know if you have that state program that IL has called WIC.. which is women, infants and children Nutrition. They have tuna as one of things on there that you can get , so if it wasn't very safe they wouldn't have it.. Fish is high in protein, however I do know as everyone else was saying that it can contian mercury levels, but if you eat in moderation just like salt, and sweet stuff then you will be fine.

It is ok to eat tuna while you are pregnant, just limit the amount of any low mercury fish and shellfish to about 2 servings a week. Tuna is not a fish considered high in mercury, but it can contain trace amounts of it.

Yes. In moderation. You should eat less then 8oz per week of albacore tuna (light) which has the lowest mercury.

You should avoid raw tuna or japanese tuna called "ahi" which has a very high mercury content.

I'm pregnant with my 3rd and love tuna

I would try to avoid eating any canned tuna while pregnant because of uncertainties about the risk of mercury contamination to developing baby.

Canned tuna in water is safe. Fresh tuna may contain mercury and I would avoid it. You can get a list of foods to avoid from your doctor. If you can't wait, just google it.

You're really not supposed to, but if you wait until your first trimester is over, then if you REALLY have the craving, have like one small sandwich. It probably won't hurt anything, but if there's a possibility, then why risk it? I had that same issue with something, but figured, if I hurt my child because I couldn't stop eating something for a few months, then that's pretty selfish. But its not like its alcohol or a cigarette or something, so if you really want, do so in moderation.

you cant eat TOO much of it, but yes, in moderation its really good for you. it contains omega-3 which is great for brain development. if i recall correctly, my doctor said WHITE tuna is the best.

be mindful of fish products that contain high amounts of mercury, which is not good during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Because of current high mercury in tuna , pregnant women are advised to limit tuna intake . ( I would go zero if it was me)
