The condom will prevent the transmission of AIDS and STDs. The pill does not. If you are having sex with numerous people, you need to use a condom to protect yourself. If you have one partner, you should both be tested for AIDS and STD's and if you are negative, the pill is 99.9 % effective as a means of birth control (providing you take it properly).
Good Luck,
Dr. J

Yes, if you are not in a monogamous relationship. You can still get STD's even though you are protected from pregnancy. If you are in a monogamous relationship and are just trying to prevent pregnancy then not necessarily, you can still get pregnant on the pill(as I've found out twice) but you're chances are very slim. Follow all instructions on your birth control, and DEFINITELY use a condom if you are on any medication that can interfere with the effectiveness of the b/c. Other than that the decision is up to you.

YES, the pill does nothing to protect against STDS, HIV or HPV. The pill is NOT 100% effective in preventing fertilaztion. A condom protects against STDS as well as HIV and is also a barrier in preventing fertilization...however there is nothing effective against HPV because it is caused by skin to skin contact with an infected person, so, unless your partner is wearing a full body condom there is always a chance the disease (if your partner has it) can be spread to you...oh and your partner may not even KNOW they have it.

Yes, a condom helps protect you from STDs, the pills don't. Besides double protection is always a good idea.

If you don't want to get pregnant then you should use a condom while you are on the pill. I got pregnant while I was on the pill. So it's better to use both of them instead of one or the other.

Yes if you are not in a monogamous relationship. You never know where other people have been and you really need to worry about STD's these days. If you are with the same person for a longtime and you both have been tested and you are on the pill then no.

Pills are offering only 96-99% protection against pregnacy.
For STD`s (sexualy transmited diseases) you got no protection from the pills, only a condom protects you efficiently.

I think I'm jumping on the bandwagon here a little bit, but yes you should.
Whilst the pill is an effective contraceptive, it doesnt protect against STI's and you never *fully* know somebody's sexual history.
Its always better to be safe than sorry.

the pill is not 100% effective against pregnancy and it is 0% effective against std's.. im on the pill, and i still use condoms.. it definitely safer. if you know your partner, and youre not worried about std's, then its up to you to decide how safe you want to be in preventing pregnancy.
