I know a lot of people have asked this stupid question but hear me out. I took a prgnancy test(pos.) Blood was tested at the hospital (pos.)Then I had an ultrasound and they can't find ANYTHING. I'm supposed to be 21/2 months, but no heartbeant and no baby. I have been spotting for over a week, but docs aren't sure if I had a miscarriage. Has anyone ever had to go through this? I'm ok with the miscarriage and with the pain. I just want to know what is going on.

This is known as a chemical pregnancy. You at some point, did concieve and your body reacted to it...but the embryo never developed. Also known as phantom pregnancy.
I had something similar happen with my body except the embryos (Triplets) had developed for about 7 weeks (two of them developed but one had not) but I carried them for almost 16 weeks until we discovered on an ultrasound that they were no longer alive. My body just never rejected it. I continued to produce amniotic fluid and my belly was big and round...
Good luck to you and i hope that everything turns out ok.

If you are ten weeks as you say and there is no baby than you had a miscarriage or an ectopic prengnacy. It is not possible to have a normal pregnancy without a baby present in the womb at this stage in the pregnancy. Most babies at 10 weeks are about an inch and a half in length and are VERY noticeable with a heart beat. It will take several weeks for the hcg level in your body to return to zero and this is why your pregnancy tests are still positive. Your doctors should be monitoring this on a weekly basis after it is determined what the prognosis and best course of treatment is in your case. Good luck.

First if your having pain I would have them check your Fallopian tubes because at 2 1/2 months if you have a tubular pregnancy your tubes could rupture and you could hemorrhage. Also having a false positive is common. Stress, medications, and other factors can affect your hormone levels giving a false positive. There could also be a chance that your not as far along as you think which would result in them not finding a fetus on the ultrasound. The heartbeat is the one I would be most concerned about since a fetus has a heartbeat at 4 days. Call your obgyn and make sure they checked for a tubular pregnancy because like they said having a miscarriage would result in higher hormone levels (giving a positive) but a miscarriage won't kill you like having a tube rupture. I hope everything turns out OK.

hi
i know it is gonna sound weird coming from an 18 year old but have u thought of the possibility if could be a ectopic pregnancy? the reason i ask this one of my sisters who is 22 had the same problems as ur having and she found out she had a ectopic pregnancy, i found this on a website which i will list below but it sounds like what ur experiencing
Signs and tests
The health care provider will perform a pelvic exam, which may reveal tenderness in the pelvic area. A pregnancy test is usually positive (says you are pregnant).
Tests that may be done include:
Hematocrit (may be normal or high)
White blood count (may be normal or high)
Culdocentesis (to check for blood in the pelvic/abdomen area)
Transvaginal ultrasound or pregnancy ultrasound (shows an empty uterus)
A laparoscopy, laparotomy, or D and C may be needed to confirm the diagnosis.
An ectopic pregnancy may affect the results of a serum progesterone test.
good luck and i hope this helps
best wishes x

Possibly not. Some women can have what is known as a phantom pregnancy where their body thinks they are pregnant when this may not be the case. Of course, since I am male I dont know a lot about this but regardless, I definelty think you should go back to the doctors/hosptial. If you do, they could confirm whether or not you are.
I'm sorry I cannot help any further and good luck.

Ask for another blood test and compare the hormone levels. If you miscarried, the hormones will still be there for a time, but will be gradually dropping.
I'm sorry if you did lose the baby, but that may not be the case. Have your doctor do further tests to figure it out.

Wow, honey, you are having a hard time. It's almost positive that you are, but it's odd because ultrasounds ususally don't occur until your fourth or fifth month... you need to consult another doctor tell him all the information and then figure out what's wrong. I would bet you ARE and it's too soon to tell...... but you need to seek medical attention.! Best of Luck!

Your doctor should have checked for a tubal pregnancy. There is also such a thing as an ovarian pregnancy that is extremely rare. My mother had one and almost hemorrhaged when her ovary burst. If it is a miscarriage, I'm so sorry for your loss.
