Opinion polls show that Americans overwhelmingly oppose his policy in Iraq. Is there a point where the president has to bow to the wishes of the people and his own party, and not be concerned about his legacy?

I'll be going through rotc w/ a 4 year natl. scholarship for the next 4 years, and then will get my commision as a 2nd lt. For those with military experience, or knowledge, what would be the best army career specialty/path to become a general in around 25-30 years after i get my commision?

I was thinking armor (tanks), field artillery, or aviation (helicoptors)

I am turning 36 in Nov. 2007, would like to finish college (9 months to go) and get an Associates degree before I enlist - to get in as an officer. Any good ideas on military branches to join when seeking high rank and/ or becoming an officer in a relatively short time frame? I heard that you can only become an officer up to age 29. Is that true? If yes, what other military career route can one choose to hop the ladder in a short period of time, get good schooling or college and desired MOS? Thank you for helpfull answers in advance and God bless you.

I personally have been against the Iraq war to begin with I am very liberal and never have liked Bush and I'm hoping the war is over in a year as it has gone on way too long. So how much longer will American troops be in Iraq?

why does the media only ask the military leadership about what the soldiers think about being in iraq? i know from experience, iraq 2004-2005, that if they would ask the soldiers if the occupation is worth the loss of lives they would get a different answer. if they had asked the guys in my unit i can honestly say that the majority would have said, being over there is a joke! and that there is no justification for being there. we went there because we lost 2000 plus lives in the 911 attacks, this is true, but we have lost a great deal more while being there, is it worth it? and why? and please no crap about fighting for our freedom, because i wasnt fighting for the freedom of the american people when i was there.

I would argue that it is impossible for anyone to achieve world domination, yet many people say if Hitler had won WW2 or the Soviets would have won the Cold War they would have subjugated the planet. It is also the goal of many supervillains in movies and cartoons. So is it possible to conquer the world or will there always be a force that rises to resist this?

my boyfriend left for bootcamp over a month ago. within the first week i got a letter, and the second week i got his address, and the third week, i got two letters. the first one, he hadn't received my letter back yet, and then he wrote again and said he was so happy to hear from me and he wanted to be more serious about our relationship. i wrote him a really long letter back with even his favorite show, and i haven't heard back from 2 weeks ago. i know he's written home a few times since. is there some reason why even if he's busy, he couldn't write a quick note and say he won't be able to write much, or in his parents letter home to tell them to tell me he can't write much to me? i understand he's busy, but it doesnt' make sense that he was writing so much and telling to please write him, and then he just stopped?

I am only 16 right now so I know I have time. But I am seriously considering joining the military. But I'm still a little scared. It won't stop me. But that still leaves me with another problem. I don't know what to join. So, if you would be so kind as to list your opinion, with a detailed explantion as to why. And it would also be most helpful if you could list salary, duties, rankings, danger factor, deployment rates and othe important information. That would be good. Please and thank you.
