I just came back and would like to know any experiences with the navy or any branch in general. The Navy sounds like the safest branch of them all, nonetheless the funnest. Serving my country is great I want to do that, BUT WHAT ARE SOME REASONS NOT TO GO IN THE NAVY? He told me Iraq is not a place I would be deployed and I voluntarily would choose to go anywhere pretty much...I am 18, enrolled in college for this fall, will be in debt..etc..and so you see why the military appealed to me because he told me I can earn a degree and get paid and all this great stuff. Am I going to die? Am I going to go in underpaid? Screwed in some way? Anything like that would be great to know. thanks ppl

In brief: After previous events he then raised an Army, fought the British and was defeated. Then cowardly / totally abandoning all his loyal supporters who were to suffer most cruely at the hands of the British Govt - i.e. the Highlands cleared / emptied! He was rowed away from a barren strip of the Scottish Highlands!

Not even today, have those then imperilled parts of Scotland recovered from that brutal / after battle assault employed by the British!

Why then, is he referred to as "Bonnie"? Slipping away to live in French luxary, leaving his peoples to suffer and endure the consequencies of his defeat? Apart from the total destruction of Scotland, which his cowardly departure was to leave behind thereafter - what did he leave to Scotland?

En-mass thereafter, the peoples of Scotland either forsaking their birth right, fleeing to Colonial colonies and/or deported to them.

I was wondering what the regulations are for military uniform wear in the civilian world. I am mostly curious about the Navy. I have looked at some websites about the regulations but have not found exactly what I was looking for.

I have seen Army soldiers with their BDU's (I think) or some type of uniform at the mall. I was wondering if soldiers/sailors/airmen have to wear their uniforms or civilian clothing when at places like that. The regulations say they can wear civilian clothes. But why were those soldiers wearing a uniform?

Thanks!

1) Approach dumb rich ignorant student talking about "peace" and saying there should be, "no retaliation."
2) Engage in brief conversation, ask if military force is appropriate. 3) When he says "No," ask, "Why not?"
4) Wait until he says something to the effect of, "Because that would just cause more innocent deaths, which would be awful and we should not cause more violence."
5) When he's in mid sentence, punch him in the face as hard as you can. 6) When he gets back up to punch you, point out that it would be a mistake and contrary to his values to strike you, because that would, "be awful and he should not cause more violence."
7) Wait until he agrees that he has pledged not to commit additional violence.
8) Punch him in the face again, harder this time.

Repeat steps 5 through 8 until they understand that sometimes it is necessary to punch back.

I think that if you don't support the war, then you can't say you support the troops. If you do, you're trying to find a compromise that doesn't exist. I don't support the war and therefore I don't support the troops. But, I don't want them to get hurt, that's actually one of the reason's I don't support the war in the first place. It's complicated.

But what do you think?

Is the COMMUNITY SERVICE, PUBLIC SERVICE beyond the unselfish, poorly appreciated service of our troops (and their suffering families) serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and points in between the only pure example left in America? Why is that so?

I was watching the National Geographic channel (as usual) and a show called Explorer came on, talking about how North Korea is such a isolated country that has much poverty and starvation. It also said how the leader Kim Jong Il pretty much brainwashed the koreans, forcing them to worship him and if they didn't there would be dier consequences. And now there making nuclear bombs (which were mainly created to attack the U.S.).
But anyways lets say the N.Koreans do revolt against Kim, would that lead the n.korean army to build more concentration camps (for the people that refuse to worship Kim)?

if we could find another place for them. South Dakota would be a good choice. Who lives there anyway? Then there would be peace and tranquility when all the Sunni's and Shiites are gone, leaving us the oil and room to build our military bases. Just a modest proposal.

I read elsewhere that Japan had anticipated that if they attacked Pearl Harbor they would buy thierselves 3 years in which time Germany would have conquered Britain and that the US would have no choice but to concede to a deal to end the war.

But I find this hard to believe being that Hitler had opened up the eastern battle front and invaded Russia just 6 months prior to Pearl Harbor.

Also my understaning is that Japan had given up in its battle with Russia earlier becuase of substantial losses due to the fact that other than thier air and sea capabilities the soldiers had poor weapons and less capabilities as other forces. With that being said, did Japan really think that German soldiers were supperior to thier own so much that they bought into the idea that if Germany "kicked down the door the whole rotten structure would collapse"?

Hard to swallow.

So why was bombing Pearl Harbor believed to be a good idea by Japan and Germany if they knew?
