Why in the hell are we making one of the biggest deals we have ever made about the number of troops killed in Iraq. It is in no real comparison to any other significant war we have participated in. I feel it is partly due to the media coverage, and alot to do with the overall strategy of the Islamic extremists, they no we have lost our stomach for blood.

I am against war, and I feel some sympathy for people who get involved in it and can't handle it for whatever reason. It's proven that most soldiers suffer some psychological damage from war. I sort of believe though that if you sign up for the military, this is what you can expect to happen. I just read that penalties for U.S. deserters are small - they often return voluntarily and are discharged less than honorably. Do you think they should face criminal charges? I guess I feel that desertion is better than going loco and committing unspeakable crimes against innocent civilians. I would think that how patriotically charged this country is, that they would jail these people. I kind of think they're heroes - they're standing up against war in a way.

I have two honorable discharges. One from the Air Force and one from the Navy. I would be more proud to have a less than honorable. Why? I was part of the USA Government that put the hurt on smaller innocent nations and I'm ashamed of that. The USA is a country that believes it is a world Police .

Quote " this weapon that was designed to protect the Russian people from their enemies but was quickly turned against them. Its inventor says he wishes he had invented a lawnmower instead. There are now thought to be more than 70 million AK47s in the world. AK47: The Story of the People’s Gun " UNQUOTE http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/factual/starttheweek.shtml

Hindsight is a wonderful thing I guess, but there's no denying the versitility of this weapon.. designed so boys could use, bury in sand or ground and it's still ready to use.. but after Beslam, Col K admitted he wished he'd never invented it.

Do you?

I have 2 Containers that are very old marked "Property of Civil Defense Administration" "Handle with Care" "Human Blood Container". As far as I can find out these were used during the Korean War. I need to know how to find out what they are worth and if I can sell them or if any collectors of these types of items are interested in buying them. I know they have some historical value and need information on these containers.

I have just returned home from meeting with a Navy recruiter in my town, and he gave me a great deal of information on the Navy and all of its perks and whatnot, and how it could help me become a pharmacist later on. He was extremely persuasive and got me seriously thinking about joining, but I would like y'alls opinions on the Navy. Seeing as how he is in the Navy, his views are going to be biased in favor of it. I would just like y'all's views on the Navy--its pros *and* cons.

By the way, I'm 17 and will be a senior this year.

Thank you!

The reason for the discharge being desertion for emotionally purposes. I needed to be with my son and family and felt it was the right thing for me to be with them. I felt in my heart I knew that if I had gone to war that I wouldn't have made it back. Would people look down on that or be willing to give a second chance? It was the hardest decision ever and it effects me everyday. Is there anyone that would give someone another chance for doing something like this? Any advice or comments would be helpful.

is it normal that my boyfriend sent me 4 letters within the first month of basic training at fort benning, but then hasn't written me for 2 weeks but has written to his parents? the last letter said he wanted to be more serious about me, and i wrote him back a long letter about how i love him, but i haven't received anything back? maybe he doesn't want to be with me anymore? why would he have time to write home, but not to write me a really short letter saying he can't write much but he loves me? its driving me crazy waiting everyday for a letter, and not receiving anything. The only thing i can think is he doesn't really care anymore? i waited and finally wrote another one a few days ago which he should have received probably yesterday that just said i hadn't heard from him and i love him, etc. i'm at the point where i just feel bad because if someone loves you, why would they write home but not to you when they say they want a future with you?

I am 17 years old and a senior at my high school. After much consideration, I have decided that I want to serve my country and join the Armed Forces as well as recieve a college education as I have always intended. I was looking into the Amry ROTC and the Air Force ROTC and was wondering how much of an affect the ASVAB will have on my chances of getting accepted over my overall GPA and SAT scores. My GPA in high school is a 2 but my SAT score is around 1200 (math/verbal). I was wondering, with my low GPA, but fair SAT score, will scoring well in the ASVAB greaten my chances of getting the ROTC scholorship? If so, by how much and what other things do the Armed Forces (specifically the Army and the Air Force) look at before making their desicion about accepting me? Thank you for your time and i hope that those who are knowledgeable in this area will answer my question.

We only try to go after the individual... when somebody messes up it is that person who gets in trouble.... and I totally agree with this.... why should i be punished for the mistake of someone else. that´s just our culture. and i love it.... we are on the extreme left or right whichever one, we´re on the extreme.

other extreme is the collectivist societies... meaning if somebody messes up, him and the group are punished, so now not only are you motivated not to mess up by yourself but the group motivates you too....

we should take a more collectivist approach to Iraq... 1 guy in the group shoots a gun and we look for that guy... he gets away and does it again.... this is individualistic... going after the individual

1 guy in a group shoots a gun we go after the whole group. this would send a clear message that the groups should not allow these individuals to shoot the guns, and if they do then they all have a problem. this way they wouldn´t allow these guys to shoot the guns
