Yes, they did.

Japan has apologized on numerous occasions for its wartime actions -- most notably in August 1995 when Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama expressed his "deep remorse" and "heartfelt apology" to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II.

Yes they have! But they were held unaccountable for much of their actions, and tend to try and rewrite history! It is true however, they were provoked and Pearl harbor was the consequence. FDR was looking for a backdoor into WWII as he was not getting approval to engage the Germans from Congress! Yea, the people who declare war!

It was FDR who cut off imports, especially oil, to Japan before Pearl Harbor. That is the exact same thing Saddam did when he awarded 3 contracts to France and Russia that used to belong to the US!

Are you Republicans so naive that you think you would not go to war if your oil supply was cut off!

If you are talking about the sex slave issue, they have not!

And did the US apologize regarding A-bomb, even after bombed and destroyed more than 400 cities in Japan (did you know this? A-bomb was after that terrible bombing.)?
It's the same.
And it's war time. It has to be.

I'd have to read the treaty, but I don't think it's standard to apologize after a war. "Sorry we killed so many of you guys and caused so much destruction. Can you ever forgive us?"

I'll have to check what Emily Post has to say about proper post-hostilities etiquette.

I wasn't born til later. Not that I'm aware of; not that I'm very
aware. Great question. Maybe we'll find out. I like how Japanese often imitate and support us. Maybe there's implied apology in that. Would like to see more support (Middle East etc.), though.

no. We didn't have to apologize for bombing them so I don't know why we did. That's kind of what war is.
