war is sad and sick, infrastructure is ruined, quality food is hard to come by, potable water sources can be few and far between. mostly is women and children that bear the brunt of the suffering. no occupation military ever really wins against a peoples resistance, they may have the facade of control, but its only for a moment. everyone around the world in every country resents foreign occupation, your country, my country , every country.

in protracted guerilla wars, the occupier is always claiming victory. one can tell when that victory has become unachievable by they type of propaganda the sheeple receive. the propaganda turns nationalist, if one is not supporting the war, surely they are in collusion with then enemy. the occupied though the end winner, never really wins anything. infrastructure is in tatters, higher education suffers ruining the future, disease malnutrition, and poverty sets in. yet the occupier attains eventually victory through a war of attrition.

history in the west likely will whitewash it and tell a nationalistic patriotic apologist story of valor and determination of brave young men, risking all for cities they cannot even pronounce. people like me not in the west will get a much different story, one of brute force, occupation, shady weapons used by the superpower, a heroic peoples resistance taking the superpower on with 1960's small arms. somewhere in the latter is the truth, both stories will be filled with propaganda, but fact is one country crossed oceans and occupied another. the superpower will downplay opposition death counts, the occupied will exaggerate, again the truth will be closer to the story of the occupied

the history of the outcome, is relevant to your location and the truth somewhere in between.

perhaps someday man will see the error of all this, put his weapons down and treat his brother like a brother not a enemy.

Probably, but the USA can still win with a strategic withdrawal. No one understands that term. Just withdraw, say no WMD were found. Saddam's dictatorship is overthrown and he has been hanged. As well as a few people in his former government. Now it is up to you to sort thing's out. We gave you the opportunity, it cost us a lot, we are leaving! We do it that way, it will be half a page in history book's and we can focus on the real war which should be and always should have been focused on the Taliban and Osma Bin Ladin, and every tribe that supports them. Simple, focus all your force on your primary enemy is a basic law of war. That is how you win.

How do you spell defeat? There is absolutely no way that the terrorists or other factions are going to run the US out of Iraq period. That would be defeat in my eyes and that simply won't happen. We may disengage and withdraw without a clear and decisive victory but the 1991 gulf war was stopped short of a complete all out victory and yet if was heralded as a victory. The bottom line is if it were decided tomorrow to win the war in Iraq at all costs, it would happen. I guarantee it.

It could be liek the fall of the Roman Empire and the slide of western civilization and the world into a new dark age.

Think about it. If the USA losers then the Jihadists win. This gives them resources and a base of operation.

The middle east willbe in flames and that will spread through ALL of africa and the near and far east. Think Darfur.

If a larger was is not then fought and WON, the jihadists movement will directly challenge the western world and western society will be faced with annihilation.

If you learn from history you will see this as a scary near inevitability.

Well its not up to the US about the outcome in Iraq? Its up to the Iraqis now. They no longer have a dictator to hold them back. Our job is done and basically over...but if this goes bad than the Iraqi have no one to blame but themselves. They cheered for the toppling of Saddam...now they need to get their act together and act with some level of civility. We need to get off of Oil because the whole region of Oil Producing States are typically governed by knuckleheads.

As for history...we (with the Brits) did in 10 days what the Iranians couldn't do in 10 years by getting rid of Saddam. So let history state that the US gave the Iraqi people a chance...now its up to them.

History will teach the Amercian people about PNAC and how 9/11 was the cover needed to invade Iraq. People will wonder about the 3K dead Americans and the odd statements Bush made and just why the dittohead community supported Bush. They will be tested on these quotes:

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him."
- G.W. Bush, 9/13/01

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
- G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

Then the jihad will continue state side and many more americans will die. Much more then the heros giving their lives for you sorry butt in Iraq now.

It'll end up a lot like the way the Vietnam war is treated, except without the Counterculture movement. We'll get a blurb on Neo-Conservatism instead!
