I'm in the same situation as you, my boyfriend just left for LDAC training in Ft. Lewis...he said that he can call during fire watch hours (aka nighttime), but not very often. He has a calling card so if he can get to a payphone on base, he can use that. Your boyfriend will probably only be able to get in touch with you two, maybe three times, and then a week before he gets back he should get more free time to make personal calls. Good luck with everything!

as far as I know, they get one call when they get there and at least 2 a week in blue phase (one on Sunday and once during week split between platoons etc...and it's up to drill sergeant for the second call in week)

I am not sure of new policy but I dont see how he would have time for phone calls in red OR white phase.

Seldom. I was able to make two phone calls in two months (officially anyway.)

It depends alot on his drill sergeants and how well his platoon and company are doing in training. We had no officially designated days for phone calls. Both times were a bonus for getting something right. If they do well, they'll get perks like extra phone calls. If they're screwing up, they'll lose priveledges. Our drills didn't like that we didn't have the top platoon every week. And the lines are long on top of it.

Fact is that Thanksgiving day, we had guard duty all day/night.

depends on his platoon's/division's behaviour and general policy.

I know in the Navy, I called at least 3 times I think? But most of the time was spent training, and standing those ridiciliously late watches.

I got two in nine weeks.. the last week he was in Boot Camp. do NOT expect him to be able to call weekly at all. in fcat, don;t expect any phone calls period. that way you won't be disappointed when they don't come.

Its basically two calls and maybe a or two on the weekends, although he can sneak in a couple of calls during fire watch hours. But I hope he doesn't get caught. Don't worry he's not cheating on you.
