Some really good advice has already been stated
Get a degree (such as political science)
find out what they want by going to their online job board
Learn a language Preferably NOT Spanish
Without connections, you won't get to the higher positions, it gets very competitive and political.

Some things that have been overloooked
- Don't go to jail, don't have any problems with the police at all
- CIA is and will always be about who they can trust, any dealings with shady individuals may comprimise that
- Build up your credit, this ties into trust, the number one reason people with clearances sell out their country is money, they'll check into this
- Remember all this cloak and dagger BS you see on TV and watch in the news is about 1% of what the CIA is about, the majority is a lot like working for any high-speed Government agency.
- Possibility: join the military, they look highly on former military
- Explore your options; DIA, NSA, NGA, CIA one of them is bound to fit you like a glove. Don't just go to the CIA because they get all the media. As people on here have made it clear, they also recieve all the bad media
- If you're considering an active role in the CIA; exercise and target practice with a beretta.

First you have to take enough pride in yourself and actions to learn to spell and write correctly. You must be able to pass the polygraph, have a 100% clean record, keep quite. 97% of the employees are not spooks but regular government employees pushing papers, buying and shipping material, training, etc. To be a spook you have to be from Yale, Harvard, top 5 Ivy League schools and be in the top 10 % of your class. While foreign languages are nice they are more useful at NSA. We have three main bases Langley VA (DC not Langley Field); Colonial Williamsburg, Camp Perry and Harvey Point Defense Testing Area, NC.

Forgot the others are right about military service just needs to be an officier and the correct MOS.
God Bless The South.

The CIA is looking for young smart people with an ABSOLUTELY and PERFECTLY clean record. If you have ever done anything wrong even if you werent caught, just forget it. They will find out.

I'm going for the same thing.

Number one, get a bachelor's degree in Political Science or something of the like.

Number two, learn Arabic or Mandarin Chinese (potential enemies of the US)

And work your butt off in college. Not only that, stay clean. because they will give you a HUGE background check, especially if you plan on getting in clandestine operations.

A college degree will be a good start. I would go to their job board to get an idea on what type of positions are available.

Stay in school and stay out of trouble. Also, check out their website and see what their requirements are for joining.
