actually they are refering to the five generations of jet fighters....
1. 1944- 1953-p-80 shooting star
2. 1953-1960-f-105 thunderchief
3. 1960-1970-f-4 phantom ii
4. 1970-1990- f-14 tomcat
there is a 4.5 generation from 1990-present- which includes the f-15 strike eagle but the fifth generation only includes the f-22 raptor as far as operational status goes... which basicaly means we are in a transitional phase. watch out bad guys...
