Can a "regular " person hire a Barrister without going through a Solicitor?
It seems that you MUST go through a Solicitor and I find this frustrating and old fashioned. Is there another way?

I have just created a song using certain parts of Etta James's song "At Last" but not in its entirety. I was wondering since I only used the opening and closing of the song, and also placed it into another octave if I had to get permission and would I be infringing the copyright? I also used her violins in another octave within my song and one vocal part or phrase but the rest of the song like the drums, bass, and lyrics are mine. Does this still infringe upon the copyright of her original song?

Fact is, there only gonna serve 1 life, so do they get the rest off for good behavior? ☺ Who really benefits from excessive assignments of punishment? Does a judge or lawyer somewhere out there get a hefty bonus by the ammount of punishment they grant/get approved?

I say, "Let the punishment fit the crime, however, lets keep it real!"

i was told that if you make a plea agreement, for no probation..that if you serve 85% of the time, then you have no conditional release or any type of probation. my friend made that deal and now he is being told that it is considered early release and he has to serve the rest of the time in the original judgement on condidtioal release...7-7 curfew..urine tests, etc?
who can i contact to find that out? his lawyer says that he has to see his case worker...i think the lawyer should take care of this

He is severely addicted to cocaine and is a danger to himself and others. He has gotten into car accidents many times and fled and has threatened to kill my entire family and then himself on more than one occasion. He is delusional and thinks that gremlins sent from the devil live with him and tell him to do bad things. He will not get help, although he has tried in the past but never successfully. He is too far gone now.
Does anyone know of anyway that the family can force him into rehab? He needs help or he's going to die. I feel he is of great threat to others around him and I don't want anyone else to get hurt. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

I viewed a home with my realtor last night and as anybody in the market for homes know, the owners leave while the realtor shows you the home. Anyway, I was looking at a very nice house and noticed a crock-pot filled with beef stew on the counter.

I went to view this home right after work so did not have time for my supper. While the realtor was going through his checkpoint of the home I grabbed a fork and helped myself to a fair portion of the beef stew directly from the crock-pot (I did not want to dirty any dishes).

I placed a bid on the home and from what I understand by far the highest. However, I got a call from my realtor stating the owners refused my bid because they knew I ate some of the beef stew in the crock-pot. Realtor stated they were "disgusted" I ate the food.

My question - is this legal? Can they NOT sell me the house just because of this?

The world is moving at a much faster pace than the lawmakers may have anticipated. A lot of the legislation we have regarding internet practices is insufficient. People can gamble online, they can harass others, they can commit fraud, they can pose as someone else, they can do so many things and noone really cares because "it's just the internet." Is it wrong for me to believe that any activity that occurs within the jurisdiction of any country should be dealt with equally and accordingly, whether it is online, or otherwise? And should there not be greater restrictions on the content that we are able to access from other countries? Theoretically, foreign websites are not subject to the United States' Freedom of Speech (or any other Constitutional rights). Also, I think it is unfair that a large number of websites relinquish any kind of accountability for misconduct that occurs on their sites by making people agree to their terms of use.

My six year old son has not seen his mother since august. She informed me, at the conclusion of her mid-August visitation (every other weekend visitation), that she had been evicted from her apartment and would be moving elsewhere. She also stated that she did not know where or when she would be moving. I have not heard from her since. Indiana state law, i believe, requires that any parent , whether custodial or granted visitation, must notify the other if he/she relocates. My child has suffered developentally, behaviorally and emotionally from inconsistent visitation from his mother for years. There is no reason, other that the mental welfare of my son, that I would not want him seeing his own mother. I believe it is in the best interest of my son to legally deprive her of her rights to him, but I do not know if there is sufficient prove of reason for doing so (besides 8 months of noncommunication with her). Are there legal documents/websites I can review? Any help will be appreciated
