I mean, if they're all dangerous, shouldn't they all be executed?

Forgot to mention it would be anyone classified as a sex offender, no matter the severity of the crime accused of.

Sure. Go ahead. Throw out the Constitution. Throw out the concept of "innocent until proven guilty".

Prove once and for all that this country has abandoned everything it stands for.

Punish people based on WHAT YOU THINK THEY MIGHT DO IN THE FUTURE? Are you insane?

No, for several reasons.

1. Even convicted offenders may possibly be innocent. False convictions are possible and can happen to anyone. It's just not cool to execute a poor guy or girl who just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

2. Sex offenders is a general term and include violent and non-violent offenders. The reason we cannot execute offenders presently is because that punishment will not fit the crime. And may raise issues of cruel and unusual punishment, which we hold dear in our Constitution (Eighth Amendment). Plus, who wants to be executed for running naked in the park?

3. A sexual offense is very subjective. There are many laws and exceptions on age of consent. States have their individual and different laws. Other than the more obvious offenses where 30+ men drives to homes of 14 year olds for sex, most sexual offenses focuses on intent and desire. Rapists have been known to go free because their victim went out without wearing a pair of panties. The defense argued that the victim went out that night with the intention of sex and won. There may also be less heard of cases where innocent men are convicted (because there's usually no outrage or big publicity for false convictions).

4. Execution is not an effective deterrant from crime. States with capital punishment experience about the same percentages of crime as states without. Because there is no dramatic drop in numbers, this shows that although executions may deal with existing offenders, it does nothing to curb the future offenders. Prevention and rehabilitation are probably better but more costly options.

I don't believe in capital punishement, therefor no, i dont think sex offenders should be executed. however i do believe that they should be imprisoned w/out parole. the idea that we can recuperate and "fix" a sex offender is outrageous. To think that the human mind can be whittled down to the likes of a computer and simply reprogrammed is the brain child of an over zealous psycoanalyst. Once a criminal, always a criminal especially in this matter. These so called predators will never change their spots and letting them roam free is reckless disregard for human life. But killing anyone, state or government sanctioned, is murder.

Executing someone for being SUSPECTED of a crime? You need to move to North Korea or Burma. Their legal system would suit your tastes.

You said Suspected. Anyone can be a suspect. I can say you are a suspect, does that mean we have to execute you?

Suspected, no but proven sex offenders should at least be castrated at the very least.

Suspected--no. Convicted--I say lock them up for the rest of their lives.
