The law in NC allows it, either as a misdemeanor (false police report) or felony (obstruction of justice, if done with intent to deceive & defraud). HOWEVER, the 'victim' advocates will go freaking haywire, so it is highly, highly uncommon
I say, bring it on her, if she lied.

Yes they should be. When they do crap like that, it makes it even more difficult for actual victims of rape to be believed which is totally unfair.
Women who are raped do not change their story numerous times.
I know of a case in Miami, FL where a girl was assaulted by a Police officer no less. He penetrated her with his finger so there was no DNA to provide proof BUT her story never changed. He was convicted

I would rather see the black panthers and the prosecuter and anyone else who used this case for self promotion held responsible. This isn't the first time anyone accused innocent people of rape.

you pose a tricky question. i want to say yes, but then if a law like this did pass it would make even less women report being raped for fear that they did not have enough evidence to hold them accountable and they themselves would go to jail or be fined. so i think it is a judgment call for a civil judge to make and i would probably sue for malicious libel if i were the guys and also ask for money for personal damages.

Yes. I've seen it happen to a couple of guys. The effect it has is devastating. One guy lost everything he had. His marriage, his job, his friends, and most of his family. In the end, he had to move to another state. Nothing happened to the young lady who claimed rape.
I have a cousin who is doing time for a rape he didn't commit. He was in another state, but because he looked vaguely like the guy who commited it and he couldn't afford a good attorney, they found him guilty.

yea she has basically ruined these kids reputation i am not saying what these kids did was nothing and that it was an ok act but kids all over the country do things like this and worse and they are not thrown into national spotlight most of the US heard about these kids and the party they were at. The country already prejudges these kids and most people thought they did it.

YES! Anyone who falsely accuses anyone else needs to be held liable. They should go after that worthless, pandering LIEberal district attorney also. He should be disbarred and fined and forced to sling burgers for the rest of his pathetic, libeling life.

Yes of course. She put a bunch of men through the ringer. She should be charged and jailed just as they would have been if they really raped her.
