I have been to certain places who refuse to give me a cup or glass of even tap water- and told that I must pay for bottled water if I want any. Is that legal?

I am currently stationed overseas and received word my 6 year old son was attacked at school by a 10 year old KNOWN problem child. He received torn and dislocated tendons in his right knee and thigh and has a cast from his foot to his hip. when the incident happened he reported to the office as he should and was redirected to his class room where he sat in pain approximately 4 hours until school ended. My spouse was not contacted by the school nurse or anyone that day. My son complained and cried but was not seen by the nurse whom the principle said was off that day. My father in Law picked him up from school and had to carry him from his class room because he could not walk and had no elasticity in his knee. When the school was questioned they said he fell but further examination of the incident the real incident came out. Just want to know if this is worth getting a lawyer and pursuing a law suit. Thanks SSG Veasley

Hi, today my Mercedes caught fire under the drivers side dash, destroying most of the drivers side area, entire dash, windshields any just a mess. I only has liability insurance and my warrenty is up. The fire came out of no where - I was in the car - the smoke started coming from the vents, it was really hard to breath but I tried to turn the car off. It did not turn off even when I took out the key. I got out of the car and popped the hood, I disconnected the battery to try to turn off the car. It continued running. I got back in the car and tried to move it out of gear to turn it off but I could not. The smoke became so overwhelming I had to get out of the car. Right after I got out the drivers side area engulfed with flames. The only noticible thing I can think of is over the last month a couple of strange electrical things happened - first my locks started locking and unlocking by themselves sometimes, then my lights did not turn off when I turned them off & my radio died

I am writing a research paper about a specific legal settlement and am answering the question "Was the settlement fair?" I need to find a definition of a fair settlement and it needs to be something I can cite for my paper, so please provide a source. Thanks!

I have just started going to college in Jan. for my Associates in Ecomic Crime (white collar crime, credit card fraud etc. ), so I am a long way off. I would like to work in the legal field. I am not interested in being a correction officer, police or a lawyer though it appeals to me a bit, it is not an option - any other ideas?

I sold my car and was not avaiable at the time of sale and the spare key was missing - If my mother signed a piece of paper saying she would provide a key and the person who bought the car now wants a large amount of money to buy a new key - does that signed piece of paper stand up in court?

my boyfriend has residential custody of his 7 year old son. the mother has lost a total of three children to two different men. his company was going under, so he had to get a new job. he took a third shift position until a first shift one comes available at his new job. he has a responsible babysitter for nighttime, where the child has his own bed. the mother was proven unfit by the courts two years ago. she was proven unable to bathe the child, change the child's clothes, and put the child to bed at a reasonable time, amongst other things. she has a pending dcfs case against her for giving the child a knife unattended. she has never taken advantage of her visitation rights on holidays or the two weeks she is allowed in the summer. she moves in with different men every two months or so. very unstable. she has now hired a lawyer (the same one she had when she lost custody) and wants to go for residential custody. do you think she has a chance? should my boyfriend be worried?

Simon issues a ninety-day negotiable note payable to the order of Borges for him to purchase a car. Borges has already forged a relationship with a car dealer, and begins negotiating. Simon holds the amount of note blank, pending a determination of the amount of money he will need to purchase the car. Simon authorizes any amount that doesnt exceed $3,000. Without authority Borges fills in the note in the amount of $5,000, later sells the note toAbbott for $4,850. Borges doesnt buy the car andleaves the state, $5,000 richer. Abbott has no knowledge that the note was incomplete when issued or that he had no authority to complete the note in the amount of $5,000. Nevertheless,Abbott now holds the note and sells it to Sturrock for $4,700. Abbott and Sturrock negotiated a price at the Wooden Nickel, where they had a couple of beers. Sturrock, now the holder of the note, sells it to First National Bank at a discount of $4,500. First National Bank presents the note to Simon for payment.

Two weeks ago I had asked the question, What should be the solution to get rid of from the Naxalites problem in india.
but no body even tried to reply the question.
Again I am asking that the Govenment organisations of various states are discussing about the solution of the naxal problem at Jamshedpur(Jharkhand) after the M.P. (Mr. Sunil Mahto) assasination. At the same time, The so called Naxal group attacked at Chhattisgarh where 55 Policemen were killed. I want to say that if our government are serious about solving the problem, then why they are not talking with the leaders of the group?

My fiance injured his shoulder at work last weekend. On 3/21/07, he got taken to urgent care for diagnosis and treatment. He sprained his shoulder. He was doing his normal duties, and his shoulder popped. He is in a lot of pain. He got a letter today denying his claim for worker's comp. Does anyone know if anything else can or should be done to try to fight the ruling? I don't know if I'm putting this in the right category, but if anyone knows, please tell me. Thanks in advance.

Last year I moved in with my best friend into a rental house. We split all the bills 50/50, including the deposits on the house & our utilities. She would usually go pay the bills, then I would write her a check for my half. We grew apart after a few months but stayed @ the house and finished out our 1 yr. lease. The last month we lived there (Jan. 07) she refused to tell me how much the bills were & hid them so I couldn't even see them. Finally she told me that we would just split the deposits when we got them & then I would pay her the difference of what I owed her. After we moved out, I found out that the deposit for the water bill (which was in my name only) had been sent to her address. It is now March, and she says that she took it b/c she didn't think I was going to pay her (even though I signed a paper saying I would pay her when she sent me my check). She gave me copies of all the bills I owed her for & said I couldn't have my check until I paid her. What should I do?

My town is currently considering a public smoking ban annd it is creating a great deal of controversy. I think it would be wonderful, but many people feel that it is there right to smoke. Of course they do have a right to smoke, but what they don't have a right to do is put another individuals health at risk in the process. Another argument I've heard is that non smokers can choose to go to a non smoking restaurant; no one is forcing them to eat at a smoking establishment. But why should I be inconvenienced? As far as I know there are maybe one or two restaurants in my town that are completely non smoking. When the majority of people are non smokers, that argument just doesn't make sense. My biggest pet peeve in the entire ordeal is children. Children do not choose to go to a smoking establishment, they do not ask to have smoke blown in their face. Don't you think that in this case, individual rights is just not a good enough reason not to allow this ban?
