In Tennessee, the Court can make a decision about whether to leave a convicion public record, to seal it, or to expunge it.

Make an appearance at the Chancery Court in the county where you were convicted. Tell the judge it's been ten years, that you've been living a stable life, etc. Take several character witnesses with you.

He can make a decision from the bench to expunge your record then and there.

Most domestic charges are never expunged do to the nature of the offenses. Contact a local attorney because this is not something you should try to do yourself! Felony convictions are more serious and I've been told after conviction only the president can expunge a felony.

I had a federal weapons charge expunged(felony). All you need is a sympathetic judge, and a computer. No legal fees, 5-10 minutes, and it is as if it never existed!

Your going to have to sell them a real good reason to do this. In my case, it was beneficial to the Justice Dept. for me to have a clear record.
