I recently went to court to enforce a child support order that was $8k behind. He had to pay me $2k from an account and has 3 years to pay back the arrears. Now it has been 2 months since the order, he has paid about 20% of his reg child support and not touched his arrearage payment that the court ordered. I can not afford to take him back to court and sometimes struggle to make sure my children have what they need but this deadbeat can afford to take my kids to Disneyworld and other lavish vacations because of his failure to take care of their day to day needs. He has had his DL revoked but parades into DHS and explains that since he drives for a living that he can not pay without it and they have reinstated them. How do I make him accountable, and remain relatively civil? I exchange the kids with them and do everything to the letter, I just don't see why he should be above the law, especially at the expense of my children. Any help is appreciated.

Am I cleared of all costs once the car's title is signed over? It was a $1000 car that I gave to an auto salvage company for $75. The ticket is just $50, is that wrong? Should I pay it? They got a good deal.

I asked a question earlier, but forgot to add something. I recently got a ticked on the freeway for going 75 on a 65 and I was wondering if I should fight it in court. I got one before about 3 years ago, and the cop showed up, but he dismissed all his fines that day, and I got a refund, does this mean that this ticket I got recently would be my first offense? I did receive a refund afterall on my first one.

Here's the deal: I've lived with my daughter's father (she's 18 mo) for about 4 years now. We recently broke up, but he says I'm not allowed to move out w/o his permission or it will be kidnapping. I want to to move in with my brother by my daughter's father says that's out of the question. He says I can't move out until I get a place of my own- that's nearly impossible since I take care of my daughter 99% and earn a very modest income from home. I have no idea what to do any advice or personal experience in the matter would be very helpful.

I attend a university that is a "private college".

1.) False advertising.
2.) Completely irrational contracts that I was pretty much "tricked" into signing because a cover-up of information by the school.
3.) Severe emotional damage.
4.) Breaching their contract with several things.
5.) When I ask or file a complaint it takes weeks to be resolved, and is almost never resloved. Many other students have run into this problem.

How much can I sue them for?
Can it be way more than the money i will still owe them for the faulty contracts (because even if they are faulty, i still signed them ignorantly without reading)?

I am currently serving a few months in work release (jail) and was wondering...If I ran to Mexico (or another state for that matter) for a few years and had no contact with the law, would I have to serve my time later on in life? Or is there a statute of limitations that could get me outta this if I ran? Just wondering because the punishment does not fit the crime. A year for drinking and driving is b.s. A lady in town just stabbed her husband a few times and only got 6 months, that is rediculous. Let me know what ya think...

Lawyers, retired or new lawyers, judges, volunteers, paid by the state? Who are these people? Paralegals? Retirees? Who pays them? Who chooses them? Why do they spend so little time on each case that may ultimately change the course of someone's life?

I always hear of 'grand jury' indicttments, etc and want to know more about this. Thank you.

During the trial I was not represented, but during my questioning the witnesses, it was discolsed that not only had I had not yet even had the opportunity to violate the order, but that the alleging party made no inquiry with the record keepers regarding any documentation related to the alleged violations, to research whether there were any documents or reasons I may submitted to them excuse any possible violations of the order. The judge found that I was innocent, and the hearing ended. Subsequent to the hearing, the other party filed a motion alleging they were entitled to a new trial, because it was unfair to them that they had no opportunity to cross examine me. The judge affirmed their motion, knowing I was innocent. (My guess isnow the other party can clean up their mistakes, a protect themselves from any complaints from me about their filing a frivilous lawsuit.) What best route/timeframe I can take to stop this and future frivilous lawsuits (i.e.: Motion to Dismiss? Appeal?)

There are about 20 people, keeping various types of business like dtp centre, tailoring, civil construction office, financial consultant, book sellers, lawyers office, psychology centre etc in a commercial building at T.Nagar, Chennai. Recently, a man who stayed few days for some interior works going on at constructions office, had mis-behaved and quarrelled with the son of the land lord itseems! So, for the past two weeks, the land lord is locking the main door by 9 pm in the night and unlocking it by 9 am the next day!
Usually, the DTP people, some time used to stay night and finish-up their pending jobs if any in time of urgency. Lawyers, you know very well can start up their job after the court work finishes, usually from 6 pm only. They interact with their clients, giving notes to their juniors and will eventually can extend up to 10 or 10.30 pm. Some time the tailors, due to their committments, had to stay back at their shop to finish up their pending works..& so on with all.

I have got a problem in which I want you help me solving. It is a question regarding contract law which says:

About 15 miles from Potters Bar, in quiet countryside, there is a clothing factory with its own factory shop. In the shop window there is a notice stating:

"Limited offer, twenty RD23 anti-fit jeans at £30 each. First come, first to buy"

Slinky, who lives in Potters Bar, hears about the notice from friends who have visited the shop. Slinky does not have a car and therefore writes to the shop ordering a pair of RD23 anti-fit jeans. In his letter, Slinky asks if the factory can send him the jeans by courier.

After posting the letter, Slinky decides that he cannot afford to buy the jeans after all. Slinky telephones the shop manger and cancels the order but the shop manager then says that it is too late because Slinky's letter has been posted. The letter arrives next day.

Advise Slinky.

Yours Sincerely
New Lawyer

I did some freelance modeling a while back. However, I wish to gain back the copyrights to my pictures because I realized that one of the photographers who has been shooting me has been posting all images online to the public. However, he had "forgotten" to give me a copy of the contract when we shot (twice). And I've been bugging him for over 2-3 months now, and even though he says he'd be sending me a copy, I never recieved anything. For the past month and a half, he has been avoiding my emails and phone calls. What should I do next to insure I will get a copy of my contract so I know what I'm working with here? Should I just tell him straight up that I'm trying to get my copyrights back or get my hands on the contract first?

Is the prosecution restricted from calling witnesses who weren't called in the original trial. I'm following a trial that looks like it is going to result in a mistrial and a new trial. The prosecution decided against calling witnesses who could have given valuable testimony.

Heres the senerio: My sister and I lived in an apartment for 6 months. After we moved out they kept our deposit and charged us an addition 300 dollars. So, we mailed in two checks (for 150 each) about a month ago. About two weeks ago I recieved a statment in the mail just saying that we paid, that we now owe them a balance of $0.00. Pretty much just proof of our payment. A few days ago the landlord called and said that they misplaced our checks before they could deposit them and asked us to put a stop payment on them, then to send them a new check along with the bill for the stop payment. I dont think I should have to go through this trouble (I also thought they charged us for silly things during our final walk through) Basically, I just dont want to send a new check. If I just refuse, saying that I already sent a check and will not send a second one.. can they come after me legally??
