It depends on where you live and how important of an attorney you hire. They can charge as little as maybe $125 an hour in small towns and/or beginning attorneys or attorneys who aren't very good at what they do to $600 an hour attorneys in New York. Out of state would have nothing to do with what type of lawsuit you're filing.

I hired a crimal defense lawyer and he charged me 175.00 dollars and hour. I am not sure what it would cost you, but I know that some lawyers that represent people who sue, don't charge until they recover your losses. Shop around and if you contact the Lawyer Referral Board, they can even help you.

Well, usually you start with a retainer. Some lawyers want $3,000. Then they have an hourly charge.

Other lawyers will work on a comission if they think you are gauranteed to win.
