Is the prosecution restricted from calling witnesses who weren't called in the original trial. I'm following a trial that looks like it is going to result in a mistrial and a new trial. The prosecution decided against calling witnesses who could have given valuable testimony.

The new trial is an entirely new trial.

The prosecution can present a different theory of the case, and can call different witnesses.
