In 1775, Benjamin Franklin said, "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Do you feel that this statement is very timely in regards to the current administration, and its insistence that "If you are not with us, you are against us?" Isn't this the basic catalyst of the so-called "Patriot Act," which forces American citizens to give up "a little bit of liberty" in order to feel safe?

Well, is it working? Do you feel "free," OR "safe?"

Do you feel Franklin's statements are relative to America's present situation?

I am currently living with my partner of two years in the bottom level of his parents house. His parents told us we could live there and have the downstairs area. Well i was sorting out clothes and personal things like poems journals etc. so i had them in piles on the floor including dirty laundry and underwear. And his mum (when we were out) came down and cleaned everything up! she moved all my underwear and everything and she has done it twice. I think its really rude and i feel violated and my privacy has been breached I feel disgusting that she has touched all my underwear and seen all my personal private belongings which i feel she has no right to even touch! was she right to do this?? her excuse was it was untidy except her house is filthy and she never cleans (not even the dishes)

I'm curious; If my cousin was awarded for tort of battery and assault by her boyfriend does that mean her boyfriend must overcome a presumption that he committed the alleged crime in a later criminal proceeding?

***If you dont know what peyote is dont answer this question.
---------------------
According to wikipedia: "United States federal law (and many state laws) protect the harvest, possession and consumption (but not cultivation) of peyote as part of "bonafide religious ceremonies" (the federal regulation is 42 USC §1996a, "Traditional Indian religious use of the peyote sacrament," exempting only Native American use, while most state laws exempt any general "bonafide religious activity"

So assuming i want to do a "bonafide religious activity", where can i buy peyote legally.

I deliver pizzas for a living, and what the supervisor (the supervisor of my manager) wants to do this experiment. He wants to have a ton of drivers in the store so when a driver comes back from a delivery he or she would have to wait his or her turn, which would mean less $ per driver. He wants to do this so he would not have to hire anyone who wants to work inside only. The drivers would have to do the inside work when they are waiting.

I thought a notary would be good enough, but I've found it's not. So what would a person need to do if, say, they wanted someone who was NOT immediate family or next of kin to care for their children in the event of their death or otherwise instructed? Something that would be airtight, that no one could contest in court.

should capital punishment be reintroduced in Australia....for or against?

please think of Ronald Ryan before you give me your answer. he was hung for illegibly shooting an officer in the chest 36 years ago. he was hung then later presumed innocent. that was the last hanging done in Australia after that capital punishment was banned.

even thoe you may think that the vicious men and women (not so many) should be hung just remember life in jail is living with what you have done is much worse than death.... but thats my point of view...!

I was caught shoplifting in June 2003. I was only 18 at the time and my cousin (who was also shoplifting but under 18) was caught also. It was one of the worst experiences in my life and I learned a lesson I will never forget. I paid all of mine fines and restitution to Walmart. I was told I was never to enter another Walmart anywhere in the world or I would be arrested for criminal tresspassing. My cousin was allowed back in Walmart the next and didnt even get a slap on the wrist. I have been back to Walmart several times over the years since the incident and I just wondering if I am pressing my luck. I have used credit cards and I have also taken things back and given them my drivers license. Nothing has been said to me or anything so should I not have anything to worry about if I'm not ever doing it again ? I know Walmart has a large daily turnaround of customers and they cant possibly keep up with everyone entering the store. Any one have any advice or know anything?

It seems like democracy is nothing more than mob rule - the majority of people decide what is best for the minority, even if those decisions are oppressive. Shouldn't people be free to make their own decisions, as long as they do not harm others?
